| Crawler King questions
Just got a new Crawler King today and have a few questions. It came with a 55 turn motor which i would like to upgrade but not sure which way to go. I want more torque and not worried about speed at all. I just dont know if a 20 turn motor has more or less torque then the 55 turn. Has anyone tried the gear reduction unit #87634 if so how do you like it and with what motor . It has a 21 t pinion but what is the smallest i can use? Would like to go up on the spur as well so need to know the biggest spur that fits without too much modding. The steering servo seems weak as well , could anyone tell me what kind of torque it puts out and what voltage it runs on? Thanks for any help!!! |

A gearing change is all you need... 96t spur and a 14t or 15 t pinion will fit without any mods other than removing the cover. The GRU is geared way to low IMO. At 7:1 it will only go about .5 mph. Try the 96/14 gearing and if you want more tq try a rc4wd 3:1 or 4:1 GRU. BTW a 20 t motor is faster w less tq than a 55t motor. |

I'd stick with the 55t and go with the 14/96 gears too, those worked well on my WK, especially with a higher voltage pack (9.6v-11.1v). Not sure on the Servo, but it does suck, even if you don't relocated it to the front axle, I'd still upgrade to just about anything better.
