|  WK SW2 Build
I have been working on getting parts together for this build for a while. I have hit a snag however because I changed my mind on the lower link mount after mock up and ordering the links so I need shorter lower links to make the angle of the axles right and still at 12.5" I will be a little under 11.5" wide with these wheels. Here is a list of parts I am using and some pics...let me know what you think  Sw2 chassis WK axles with Hardened gears in the diffs (Which gives you 5mm outputs) Locked diffs with JB R2 trans WK shocks Hypersion 3013 Mamba Max Towerpro servos RC4WD wheels Moabs M8 radio Spectrum rec Tlt upper link mount Extreme Rc links High clearance Tmaxx shafts 5mm output Bushwacker body Home made steering links Last edited by clarkrw3; 04-22-2007 at 08:53 AM. |

Pretty slick. How do the upper link mounts on the axles feel? Any flex in the mount? |

Some extra trimming around the pumpkin, as you can see the tab for the screw next to the wheel isn't far enough to screw into. If I do another one I would beef out the tabs that go down next to the pumpkin so they aren't so thin. Thanks for all your work on this. I would, however, buy one if someone made one that was more finished then mine. I am going to do rear steer so I will need anther one at some point. Quote:

I will make those adjustments, when did you get a copy from me? I think I did extend the tab. Would you be willing to cut out a new template and just hold the paper up to the one you made to see if it is an older version? The more people who try the better, thanks. Clark, The long shaft coming out of the tranny looks to go thru a carrier. If so where did you get it or what is it made from. Also does that long shaft come with the tranny. By the way looking good. |

Those "carriers" are made by RC4WD and are just to adapt the 5mm shaft to 6mm so that you can easily run the Revo shafts. The long shaft comes standard with the tranny but you can get an optional short one if you want. thanks for the kind words:-P Quote:

won't the steering linkage in the front hang up on the rocks. it angles outward, not to mention that they are plastic. do you have plans for steering linkages?

I do have some delrin links for the front, and yes rear steer would be nice and once someone makes a rear steer kit I will pick one up for sure.....waiting vendors!!! Quote:

Ok...I am almost done. I still need to paint up the body and work on my rear steer. (which is allowed in PARC). The new template for the servo mount worked like a charm, and with 0.06 Al and tin snips in made drumal work much better. I also fabbed up a battery mount using the knuckle screw and two screws in the mount for the original steering link, which came out much better then expected and very solid. My real question is this. I am going to be running 1500 cells in a brick pack on the axle, should I go with 6,7, or 8 cells? I am running a 3013 with Mamba Max. Also I am wonderering about final crawl ratio. The axles are 2.93:1 and my R2 is 30:1 so that gives about a 90:1 which I am sure is too high? I know that for supers you want it around 50-60:1 but am not sure what it should be for the 2.2 rigs. I have been searching but haven't found what I am looking for. I will post pics soon it has come out great so far!!  |

Here are the promised pictures. Let me know what you think  This is my version of a battery mount and servo mount using the famous template that works great now!! These are custom steering links the lower is made out of 8-32 rod and revo HD rod ends the top is a modifed link from Extreme RC delrin. |

I just ordered the battery packs from Holmes Hobbies for the rig and went with 2/3A Elite 1500 cells and 8 cell packs which should give me some punch. I also ordered a 13 tooth pinion which should give more wheel speed than the stock 8 tooth but still give me around a 60:1 crawl ratio. Once those things get here I will be ready to wheel with it and then rear steer set up... I am liking the way it is turning out. I have a bushwacker body for it and I think I am going to go with red and white.

I have it running now  Pretty impressed with the initial shack down. I might change from the 8 tooth pinion I am running now but it crawls crazy well now. I need a longer servo arm in the front to get a little more steering. I will be installing rear steer and mounting the body. I have a Bushwacker that I am painting red and white but need some more white paint. The battery pack works great and is very secure without the zip tie. John from Holmes Hobbies hooked me up with the sweet battery pack I think it came out great now have to see how it does in compsNow I just have to figure out how to keep my beads in my RC4WD beadlock wheels. |
