| Almost there....Wheely King Trail/Mudder
Hey Guys, I thought I would share what I've been building for the past few weeks. Wheely King axles MSD Beadlocks (Awesome!, by the way) 645 MG Servo All the chassis and links were hand made. The chassis is 1/4" x 1" aluminum. The links are just 1/4" aluminum rod, drilled and tapped. I plan on running a lathe motor and a Novak speed controller. There are still a few things I need to complete the build but its getting there. Tell me what you think! -Aaron- |

theshimonater: The Moabs definately do not vacate mud very well. The stock Wheely King chevrons do a great job at that though! I will only run the moabs on the dry stuff. 4x4dodge: I have two bodies that have been painted already. One is a Jeep Rubicon and the other is a Land Rover. Both have equally crappy paint jobs. I chopped up the rubicon body because the fenders would rub horribly at mid flex. I get about 60 degrees of articulation from this thing. Not really needed but there, nonetheless. |

Those are good body choices, I like the jeep bodies the best.

I can't knock the body. It looks like something I'd do. Seriously though, it looks cool, I like the idea.

Looks like a monkey with turrets syndrome built it. Just kidding. Heard that today and thought I would use it. |

Thanks for all the comments guys. That is just the beater body. I feel that it is mounted too high but I dont care too much because it is functuonal. The truck should be near completion by the end of this week. I have a WK 4X4 headed this way right now, so I will have some parts to jack and make this thing 4x4. I will make a few updates when I get this thing really rolling. Thanks, Aaron |

looks sweet! the only thing I would like to comment on it is that the lower links look to be mounted pretty high on the chassis and axle? Can't say what it would do but I would imagine this would effect suspension geometry. This pic looks like the rear wheels are starting to point away from the chassis. Not sure if those high mounted links would cause this. Also noticed the bottom of the tranny hanging down? think that will get hung up easily? Looks like a great build man! Just bringing up some points that could possibly help performance! Last edited by NickRummy; 04-17-2007 at 08:12 PM. |

Yea, I tried to get the tranny in a spot that would allow somewhat of a low center of gravity. I'm sure it will get hung up some but that is something I'm willing to deal with. On the subject of suspension geometry, the axles do turn in opposite directions under suspension compression. I think this is from having both the upper and lower links mounted on the same bolt hole in the chassis. There are gonna be some things I need to revise. I'm glad you brought that up. A better chassis may be in order soon. All I have is time. Time after the 60 hour workweeks, that is. Thanks, Aaron |

haha I know how working goes.... but you wouldn't be able to build these RCs without that work! You could build a skidplate that would go under that tranny then mount your lower links to that skidplate. That will lower the mounting points and also let the rig slide over rocks without getting hung up. Here is a shot of the setup on my scale truck. Same idea basically. |
