| Titan 23 turn 550 motor in a WK?
I know its not a crawler (yet), But before I make my WK into a crawler i want to bash with it till I gather all the parts I need. Can I put a Titan 23 turn 500 motor from my Traxxas E-Maxx into my Wheely King without burning up the ESC? It normally runs on 14v, but will it be faster than the stock 27t motor? Im just looking for some top end speed.

I'm thinking it would actually be slower since it will be running on 7.2 volts.

The standard WK motor is 27 turns. I think you can go up in turns but not down. That would mean going from a 27t to a 35t or 55 turn would be ok. I have not heard of going down in turns. Ask John Rob Holmes/Holmes Hobbies to be sure. He's the man on motors.

I think I remember reading in the manual that the esc is ok down to 20 turns....don't quote me on that, maybe go check your manual.

some motor basics. less turns = faster + less torque, on the other side, more turns = more torque + less speed. Low turns motor will draw more ampere from your ESC than from high turns motor.

you should be able to run the titan 23 turn motor without any problem...... it will give you a hair more top speed & wont burn up the esc....... if you drop down to a 17t or 12t, then youll have a problem........ a can motor is a can motor & will work with almost anything that you can put voltage to..... your e-maxx is runnin 14.4 volts cause its runnin dual batteries & dual motors if i am not mistaken...... so that would mean 7.2v per motor...... if you want a little more top speed, just put a bigger pinion gear on, much easier and only about $3 from almost any lhs......

Each motor on the E-Maxx recieves 14 volts. And the manual does say you ca go down to 20 turns.

You would be perfectly fine running that motor on 6 cells in your WK

Let me warn you of something, I was running a Trinity Monster Maxx 17 turn in my Pede through a Novak Rooster (16T limit) with stock gearing (trying to get some speed out of it) and while the truck was super torquey, I ended up toasting the ESC. The 550 motors have a higher draw than the 540's do, and gearing it wrong makes it worse, even if you're within the ESC's motor limit.

Well I tried it out and it really didn't too big of a difference, just a little faster, and a shorter run time. I also lost the low end torque and wheely ability. So I decided its time to turn it into a crawler.
