Default Spur gears

Hello, I went on Towerhobbies to find a spur gear for my 4x4 wk.

I looked on here to see what ppl were using for crawling and ppl are using 96t spur with a 15t pinion.(No Gear Cover)

So I checked Towerhobbies for a 96t spur and there on order. So i was wondering if anyone knows how a 93t spur will work with a 15t pinion.I'm running a 55t lathe motor.(Could you use the gear cover with a 93t)

Also is there a Aluminum or steel spur gear I could buy for my wk.

I'm pretty sure that the 93 will fit in the gear cover no problem and yes the pinion will work with it.

No alum gears, if your looking for a stronger set of gears I would jump to 32 pitch which is a chunkier set of gears like the internals of the gear box.

but would 32 pitch work with the stock pinions b/c i have some gears off an e-maxx and will 32 pitch spur gears come the same way or what teeth would I get and will they fit on the stock wk tranny with the spur gear adapter.

I'm basicly looking fo a spur gear that will last longer and crawl good

No you would have to use the 32 pitch pinions like on your e-maxx. I would suggest a smaller pinion then what traxxas a carries, something like a 9 tooth pinion.

I was running a 77 spur and a 9 tooth pinion but there was no way the gear cover would fit.

ok n/p the gear cover doesn't have to be on so what gears you think i should go with since you have alot of experience. Also i just stripped my stock spur so this is my first time changing it.

In order to find a gear that would fit the wheely and be in 32pitch you would have to use the rc10gt spur gears. Your not going to get 4 screws in them but that is not a issue.

These

Pinions would also have to be small in size to meet your gearing needs as the teeth on gear play no say in how much reduction. It's the outer size that makes the ratio.

Here is the pinions you have to choose from.

If I wanted to run the stock cover I would go with a 60t spur and a 9 tooth pinion.

Now if you don't want to run the cover and you would like more reduction the absolute largest spur you could fit in the stock chassis would be a 66 tooth.

I would run a 9 tooth pinon in either case.

Go with the other 96t spurs.

Gears are gears.

Nobody start whining about the whole but they only have 2 holes and not 4 either. Wheely king is the only truck to use 4 screws to hold the spur on. Meaning higher powered nitro trucks only use 2.

You can still use the dust cover with the 96t spur gear. What I did was use a small sanding drum on my dremel and simply ground down the inside of the cover until it fit over the gear. It took about 10 minutes to do.
