My scratch built wk crawler... 6 Attachment(s) First off, hey all, I am a new member to the site located in DFW, Texas (in case there any other local crawler freaks in the area). Well, I recently picked up a WK kit from Kevin over at TCS and ended up tearing it down before even running it stock. Well, I finally finished it up a couple of days ago (other than some tweaking) so I thought I would share. Remaining is relocating my lower links to the inside of the axles, mounting some maxx sized wheels and tires on it, and converting to a brushless/lipo setup...I know it's too long for comp, this is a basher. Don |
wow. that is some machine work... nice.. |
That thing is super ill. Damn. "thumbsup" |
Wow...that is awesome. Love what you have done with the servo mount!! |
Billit Works, Put me down for 4 of the upper link axle mounts. If you will make me some? |
WOW!! That is amazing work. Great job man! I am with JIA's dad on the upper link axle mounts! |
Thanks for the compliments!!!...it's just my 10 day crawler effort. Don |
I'm diggin' the link mounts. |
I can't believe the chassis, it looks like an alien ninja star or something. "thumbsup"to you man. |
Don, First off, welcome to the board  That is a hell of a nice looking build ya got there "thumbsup" New WK parts seem to be popping up everywhere these days ! Can't wait to see what else you come up with.... NooB |
Nice machine work.Let's see more.Get a vendors star and I think you could do well. Pat |
looks like that chassis is made for a wk. and I will take two upper link mounts also!!!! looks sweet man I like it. |
Nice truck. |
How does it crawl? |
If the rain stops this weekend I'll head out to the trails and take some action shots to post up... As for what else is coming...well I can tell you as time permits I'll be machining my own axles, trans., beadlocks, etc...unfortunately real work interferes with my hobby stuff...haha |
WOW that's the only word I can think of that can describe how much i love that |
That is one of the Coolest WK I have seen in a while. What machine did you do to make te chassis and all the cool other aluminum goodies? |
I've got a new HAAS 3 axis out in the shop...draw my stuff in AutoCAD and Solidworks, and program everything in Mastercam. Thanks for the kind words...it is a project still in process but I will keep the thread updated with any new madness I can come up with to add to it. Don |
Shortened and relocated lower links... 3 Attachment(s) It's setup kind of high right now for screwing around on the small rocks/dirt mounds outside the shop...will drop her down and go try to hit some bigger stuff this weekend. |
Nice rig man, thats a sweet custom build. Hope to be rockin some of your parts soon."thumbsup" |
sic....,,,, |
Very nice. I live in Dallas and know a great place to Climb. Email me and maybe we can meet. I am moding my WK now. What Drive dafts did you use and how did you make them work Neil |
PM sent... I'm just using tmaxx drive shafts and drilled my yolks open to accept the traxxas balls. Don |
Nice machining! "thumbsup" How do you like MasterCAM? We just purchased FeatureCAM at work, and the demo looked pretty promising. -WRM |
Mastercam is awesome. I have only been using it for 6 months now and taught myself on it. Of course I have a background in other software but this is my fav thus far for programming. |
wow amazing work i also hope to be getting some of those parts soon too |
Updated servo mount... 1 Attachment(s) Just wanted to share the updated parts I'm outfitting my wk with. More soon to come. Don |
I like that much better!!!!"thumbsup" |
is that a servo batt mount..??? that thing is gangster!! |
i love the frame and the links!!!! |
Thats a good looking buildup. Like the way you did the upper 4 link mounts on the axle. |
that somewhat resembles a gmade spider but cooler... i love the way that chassis looks and the servo/battery mount are awesome. nice work. keep us posted. |
Update...new shoes and stuff!!! (wheels and tires) 2 Attachment(s) Well I have now swapped out my servo mount for my new design, shortened the w.b. so it can compete, and finally got around to making my wheels and mounting up some new rubber. Each wheel with tire weighs in at 13.7 ounces with current foams. No extra weights needed. Now I desperately have to start updating my electronics (especially since I fried my ESC this weekend at the Disney Comp.)...wires will be neatly tucked away upon the installation of the new go goodies. Also, my comp truck will be receiving a new skid plate and transmission transplant in the very near future. More to come... Don |
I really like those rims. Are you planning on making any of those products available for purchase in the future? Thanks. -Tyler |
Everything you see is/will be available through TCS Crawlers, Beckworks, and others. |
thanks... i want some upper link mounts!!!!! |
Hows the tourqe twist? Looks killer man plus the beadlocks are nice too. Get a vendor star and sell these ******!!! |
Torque twist is minimal (due to stiff springs, some fuel tubing, and some 100 weight shock oil). Thanks! |
i love the machine work...sweet rig |
