Default Attn Every Il Resident Park Closing

Blagobitch is at it again... As of Nov 1 11 of your favorite parks will be closed for good...

Lowden
Castle Rock
Kickapoo (and all parks related)
Weldon springs (Clinton Lake)
WolfCreek (Lake Shelbyville)
Channohan state park
etc...

Each of these parks are in districts apposed to Fago...I mean Blago... If you go to the park itself there are petitions available to be signed. The Gov states that these closings are do to budget cuts yet, Kickapoo is a cash cow for the state (brings in way more money than it cost). Not only will these closing suck just do to the loss of good hiking/biking/canoeing/camping and yes.... RC ROCKCRAWLING but it will kill the economy in several of these areas. Being from Kickapoo area I can tell you, Vermillion county only exists because of that park system and the tourism that it brings in.
There are online petitions out there but, they dont do anygood... Ill post up mailing address's and phone #'s for the gov agencies you need to contact to save our parks from the politics.

I heard by the time they are done there will be 26 parks closed. Marseilles park is also on the list. My buddy lives there and he was telling me how shitty it is. This state is in deep trouble. It's a known fact it's corrupt and you can MARK my word. When it's all said and done. Blagobitch will be sittin next to ryan.

I'll stop there because this thread will be 30 pages long if I keep going on about this state

Is there a actual list some where? I just want to make damn sure my local park is not closing.

Lowden is a decent park my bro and I have crawled there a few times this year.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is closing 11 state parks and laying off 39 employees to cope with severe state budget cuts.

“This is a tough day for DNR and Illinois,” Department of Natural Resources spokesman Chris McCloud said today in announcing the closures of 11 state parks. “These are not decisions we wanted to make, but they are the consequences of a struggling economy.”
A total of 39 DNR workers are being laid off, 36 of whom are fulltime employees.

McCloud said the cuts are the result of $14 million in cuts made to DNR’s operating budget as a result of the budget passed by the Illinois General Assembly earlier this summer.

The following sites are scheduled to close Nov. 1:

Castle Rock State Park, Oregon

Lowden State Park, Oregon

Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park, Sheffield

Illini State Park, Marseilles

Channahon Parkway State Park, Channahon

Gebhard Woods State Park, Morris

Hidden Springs State Forrest, Strasburg

Kickapoo State Park, Oakwood

Moraine View State Park, Leroy

Weldon Springs State Park, Clinton

Wolf Creek State Park, Windsor

Total Staff Reductions: 39

25 site technicians

4 park rangers

3 assistant site superintendents

1 office associate (part time)

3 office coordinators (2 part time/1 full time)

1 site security officer
1 natural resource coordinator

1 natural resource specialist

Whew, I'm glad Rock Cut state park isn't on that list. Still my most favorite park.

Lowden I wonder if they are closing the one I'm thinking. There are 3 Lowden parks. One is a state owned campsite one is a overlook with a big indian statue. The last one is a play ground overlook area with rocks near the dam.

Either way that totally, blows.

However, maybe when a new president gets voted in things will change.

all parks managed by parks on the list.... for instance, Kickapoo is the only one on the list but, 3 other parks will be closed because they are park of the Kickapoo complex. Weldon Springs is one of the most used boat slips for Clinton lake and it will be closing with the park. Wolfcreek manages the best ramp for Lake Shelbyville and it will be closing with the park.

I bet thats why the radio said 26 parks. only 11 names but 26 actuall parks will be shut down to let the weeds grow.

But on a good note with all this money blago is saving, they will be able to issue more state cars and gas cards to morons who don't need them!

The irony is that Illini State Park in Marseilles was overhauled just a few years ago. They remodeled & updated the boating area by adding 2 boat launches, nice aluminum docks and a larger parking area.
I actually liked it better before as it looks almost too nice for a state park...........

Remember these "are scheduled to close Nov. 1", as has happened before I am pretty sure this list will change before all is said & done.

Anyone want to bet that Blago's developer buddies may have something to do with this. Can you see the ads, "Come and live in the majestic beauty of a former state park".
