Default 2 day Trail event for scalers in Marseilles, IL

NIRC is planning an open 2 day trail run at Cliffs Offroad Park in Marseilles, IL. It will be Saturday June 2nd and Sunday June 3rd.

The Cliffs Off-Road Park

Saturday will start at about 10AM and we will do one run prior to lunch. After that, other runs may or may not be planned, depends on who is there wand what people want to do.

Looking for sign ups so we can get an idea. There is room to accommodate well over 100 people, which I don't think we will approach that.

how did you manage permission at starved rock? When we asked a few years back we were informed by the head ranger that it was absolutly NOT permitted and if we were caught we would be fined and equipment confinscated.

Cliffs portion sounds fun, Ill have to check my calendar.

That is one of the items we are running down. We are all covered with Cliffs and even though it is a bit steep in price, they are real interested is seeing us run and hoping to make an annual event out of it. My thought was to live with the cost this time and then see if we can work out a better price for those that only have RCs for the next run. Also Cliffs closes at 5:00 but he is going to let us run the evening and into dark for a nice night run. We can always go back on Sunday.

We have a group camping in one of the campgrounds close by and some others staying in a hotel in Morris. But for most of SCRC it will be a local run (kind of)

you might see if they will give you the passenger rate instead of the driver rate. Its used to only be $5 to cover insurance. When we talked about it a few yrs back thats what they were doing (cant remember who it was that was talking to them about it). Its also what I talked Kyle into Badlands with.

You might have a slightly better chance of getting permission at Buffalo Rock park. Its the same complex but not as populated.

That's just silly. Did he understand they're electric, not loud nitro trucks, and they go like 5 miles and hour...and they're toys? People are stupid.

Have you ever been to Starved Rock? They are crazy out there. They will fine you for stepping off a marked trail. Thats why I was wondering how you guys got permission.

Allot of places have 0 tolerance for rc. They dont care if its electric, gas, crawls or flies. I got personal experience with Dupage county with my crawler. I just got a warning but I heard the same day from someone that had been fined and lost their car from running in a parking lot at a different Dupage county Park.

nbd... with cliffs being so close where to run is an obvious choice in my eyes. might also be good for the hobby since like-minded 4wheeling people will see little rigs and maybe get hooked.

we could have a HELL of a ttc or g6 at cliffs offroad.

looks like somebody is going to have to go down prior to the dates, scout around, and talk with steve about where we want to run. its like 300 acres... i can most likely take the trip but this weekend is obviously no good with our comp, and next weekend is memorial day weekend. i have no plans but i dont know how busy that place will be or how much of steves time we can get.

Memorial Day is the 28th, in 3 weeks.

I'm assuming we'll need to be away from the 1:1's... I'd cry if my lil toy trucks got run over

Here's the upcoming comp day layout...

Day1 = 4-29-12 (sun) @ Busse. 9:30am setup ,10am start
Day2 = 5-13-12 (sun) @ Roselle. 9:30am setup ,10am start
Day3 = 5-27-12 (sun) @ Foster. 9:30am setup ,10am start
possible new Day3 = 6-3-12 (sun) @ Cliff's.
Day4 = 6-16-12 (sat)
Day5 = 7-1-12 (sun)
Day6 = 7-21-12 (sat)

We could change the day3 date & location to help clear up time for scouting and to make the trip more interesting. Just an idea.

Works for me. Maybe 2 or 3 of us can get together and go down.

I'm 100% in for the weekend gtg.
Most likely a tent.
The girls are kicking around the idea. If they come, we may just get a room. I'll try to get it straight tomorrow.

If there is a big offroad comp that weekend, it may be tough to get a campsite that can fit us all...

I'll be in Michigan the 20th.

Hell I'd go with you if you want on the 20th. I won't have anything better to do.

I turn a year older that Saturday...oh man. Another year gone by. My mom worries. She says 32 is too old to be playing with toy trucks and that I need to move back to Texas, get married and have children. Blah....

I'm in for June 2nd & 3rd. I just hope my beat-up body could handle it. I will be getting a room as close as possible. I also have 12 x 12 shade tent if we need it.
Sounds like a GREAT time!

Whats up, are you channeling Saydee now? Looks like his spelling. SO was it a secret or a secretion?
