if you're using twin stubs I think you are going to need a 2.2 wheel with a 14mm hex. 12mm drilled out to fit over your twin stubs won't leave much material for strengh.

That makes sense. So nothing is produced, huh? I don't mind fabricating, and it seems other 2.2 TF builds have been doing custom stuff.

Mayhem is working on some 2.2 aluminum beadlocks with a 14mm hex. The thread is in the vendors forum.

If you went with 6mm stubs would that help? You'd have to rebearing of course but if there is a 6mm hex that would fit there are a number of choices.

Thats true, I was looking at bearings for this the other day. Boca Bearings are the only I found (I didn't look that hard) that made a 6 x 16 mm bearing. They were selling a 5 pack for $21.95
BWK616-2RS http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.as...&n=*BWK616-2RS .
By the time you get enough for all around thats $44 for new bearings. Thats more than I want to spend I think. My other thought was to get a sleeve that has 8mm o.d. and 6mm i.d. to sleeve a 6mm shaft and keep the stock kyosho bearings.

Just drill out a Hex, I have done it. Not much material left, but some aluminum hex's would do the trick if you are worried about strength.

The other option is 14mm wheels.

I just remember reading from Raptormans build that he was killing 12mm hexes that were drilled out to 8mm.
So you don't thing that the drilled out hexes would have a problem?

So you think most normal people wouldn't have a problem with drilling out 12mm hexes?

Weeellllllllllllllll, probably not. I'll probably regret saying that. Are any of us really normal here in the TF board?

TF axles beg for power. I say 14mm might be your best friend in the long run.

I was figuring 14mm would be better. I'm planning on making my 14r into a 2.2 and was having trouble picking hex sizes myself.

Same here. 12mm would work for a 55t motor on 6 cells probably, but if somebody is building a 2.2 TF there is probably other plans for power.

I honestly think if they were billet hexes, they would have stood a bit more power/abuse. The hexes I used were cast aluminum.

Yeah, I need durability. These axles will be narrowed for my 2.2 rock racer, running a cobalt and an E-Maxx trans. I may have to kick down for some fancy wheels...

When I get time to try another 2.2 Twin,it'll be running 17mm hexes

Got a few ideas I'm planning on trying. Should be a sweet little rig.

Thats what I'll be running at first, but running scared is no way to live.
Here is what I am planning on doing for wheels / hexes on my 2.2 build.
Axial Beadlocks with 14mm hex and custom offset

Raptorman didn't you do somethig similar to whats in this link? (14mm centers glued into 2.2 wheels) How did it work for you?

Very similar, minus the beadlock part. Worked very well, never had any issues with them. Just made sure I used PLEANTY of glue Those beadlocks look better than mine did though I wasn't sure how well they'd work so I just used junk I had floating around.
