| Replacement motor for tf?
Hay all! Im rebuilding my tf with a Axial tranny and was wondering what would be a good single motor for this? I live in South Africa and dont want to import since stuff get lost on the way here. I do have a mmp esc so brushless is an option otherwize brushed is also good. Im using narrowed traxxas canyon tyre with od of 7,2" and stock diff ratio. I do want to crawl mainly but want to have some fun in the stages in between. The truck is heavy at 10.8 pounds, since its all alluminium. I was thinking of hand winding a standard 14.4v 550 of the tf but dont know how many wound will be good? Any help is welcome. |

Hay v84x4, Ill post some pics but they are old ones, fitted a allu chassis and some allu servo mount and sharkfin (stole with the eye from you) and then the links is made from steel tube that is 6mm od and 2mm id and then tapped to 4mm with revo ballinks. The pics were in the very early stages in construction and learning curve. Will post new pics next week. 35t Ok but cant find them in SA just 50 and 55 and then some 27t motors. Im the only tf guy in South Africa that I know of that crawl a TF and like it plenty and wanna get to the MOA guys and (Talk down to them!) Last edited by SLEDGE; 11-02-2011 at 11:38 AM. |

I do have some kb45 10xl 1400k/v motors and Feigao 9xl 1900k/v and they are both 2000+ watts , but lets not get nasty here. Ill order some stuff from Holmes like the Cobalt Puller 10t motor and get it over and done with.

Hay so here is an update and some pics. The reduction box is that of a HPI Crawler king and the steel gear is a 66t made by a friend if mine a couple of years back. The ratios is between 40:1 and 18:1 depending on the pinion gear. I dont know if the reduction box will hold up, but it has 48 p steel gears inside. The total cg comes down about 2" from a stock tf tranny setup. Any comments or help is welcome before I bolt up the chassis plates. |

If you order the Holmes 10t puller, drop your axle gear to a 4.3. It will help a lot from the stock 3.3.

Ok so tonight I will fix the chassis plates to the tranny and start marking out the links and then mod the axles a bit. Will post pics tommorow. The diffs has metal gears in them , dont know the ratio, will check that.... Just one more thing, what will you guys suggest a 3link or a 4link suspension? And what are the pros and cons of both? Some pics, chassis is bolted and hacked, the chassis will get shorter because I got some 1/8 scale truggy shocks that will be mounted on the lower link arms. Wheelbase as it stands is 18".

Sorry to say, but yes. It looks like it was used for a boat anchor but I will finish it up some time. It doesnt look as cool as v84x4 s mounts but I think it will work.
