Default Finally Building a 1/6 Scale

Hey Guys, new to this Section, just got my first Mad Force Axles..... Planning a pretty cool build, can't wait to finish collecting parts and start building. I will update the thread as things progress, but it might take me a month or two to complete everything as funds provide.

So here is the start to give some ideas.

Frame: Custom Built Metal C-Channel
Tranny: E-Maxx
Motor: Integy 45T Lathe
Suspension: 4 Link
Body: CXT Body w/Custom Back-half
Wheels/Tires: Losi LST2 Wheels w/40 Series Tires (TBD)

Looks like a cool project. If your going with 40 series wheels,I'd HIGHLY recommend the Axial bead locks from RCP Crawlers. Super stout wheels for a great price and no more glue And it looks by the pics there you already have 17mm adapters

Power wise, this rig will probably be a bit on the porky side. I'd recommend a Hyperion 3025-8. It'll pull that 45t inside out without batting an eye. I'm running one in my Twin and it's geared a bit high for wheel speed and I'm running 9 cells. You probably don't want this rig to be a bullet You could gear it about 80:1 and run 7-8 cells and it'll be a shade slower than mine but have a buttload of torque

I actually have to run the Losi wheels, those are 20mm hexs, the reason for that is that they were cheap at the time to try putting on. I am either going to stick with that or go to a 23mm hex setup, just looking at options right now.

Thanks for the advice, I am thinking a 45T Lathe and running a 8 cell pack, maybe more.

23mm for the Prolines?

From my experience with both,IMHO.......The Axials ARE a better/stronger wheel. 17mm hex adapters, that work simular to the 20's you have now are cheap and easy to get.

For now, i am just sticking with the Losi LST2 Wheels (Their Hella Cheap) and some Proline 40 Series Moabs.

Gotta remember, This is not going to be a comp rock crawler, I run TLT 2.2 Class for that. This is a 36" Long Monster truck. I am just trying to build something cool that has some decent ability.

I Got more parts today.

Judging by the body......I figured that much. I was just giving you ideas on different, and better IMHO,options.

That 45t probably wont have enough azz to more that sucker.
Unless your running twin 45's.
Even then I'd personally run 55's.

I appreciate it, the reason I am sticking to these for now is that I already did the LST2 Hex's on the Mad Force Axles, so it's $20 I don't want to just throw away, and then spend another $20 on another set of Hex's. Besides, these look pretty slick on there and I had to spend about an hour machining down the hex's so they would sit on the MF Knuckles properly.

Plus, the LST2 Wheels and Moabs are always in stock at the local HobbyTown, so easy to get a hold of on a moments notice.

Thanks for the advice, I am getting a e-maxx tranny and a 55t Lathe Saturday. I will try that at first, but I am sure I will need the dual motors.

i found that with all the weight of C channel and the 6th scale body dual 55ts wouldnt even cut it. i went with the stock motors and a 4 to 1 gear reduction from RC4wd. a 45t motor plus the gear reduction might be about right. brushless is the way to go if your gonna crawl witha twin.

Luckily it won't be a crawler, Just a driver, and at 36" Long, it's more of a hauler. It will still drive over stuff, but won't crawl the rocks.

Alright, change in plans, i realized I will NEVER use a flat-Bed, so I have stripped down the truck and am building a Basher instead. but still using the CXT body and Bed. here is what I have so far....

And don't mind the cheap steel contruction plates on the sides, I am mocking up for a custom aluminum chassis.

And I am still waiting on the CXT, I FREAKIN HATE THE POSTAL SERVICE!!!!

Here it is parked on my TLT Crawler.

It's just set on there, but you get the idea. Should be just about perfect once I get it mounted. 18" Wheel Base seems to fit just right, I am probably going to lower down the body another 1". Still have to mount up the Side Steps and tanks. Thanks AIPOHAKU.

The side tanks and steps will hide the chassis, Any lower and the tires hit the body.

It actually is coming out pretty well, I'll post up an update tomorrow evening. Still working out the bugs, made some custom Rock Rings, Painted the wheels.

I am going to build a custom Bed/Roof Rack next week, similar to this one I did for my TLT.

Figured I'd post an update, I finally finished the Twin Beast, and broke it many times, upgraded to a 12V lead acid battery, FM transmitter setup, Hitec Receiver, CEN Shocks.... some other goodies.

I kept breaking Stampede driveshafts, ripped the plastic at the u-joints from all the torque of the twin 55t Motors and E-maxx tranny.

I just got done ripping the truck apart, removing the 12v in favor of a pair of 8cell 4/5A packs, EVX ESC, and X-Factor Axles for added width. I lengthed the wheelbase out to about 20", it sits REALLY perfect now, I will post pics up tomorrow evening if I remember to bring my camera home from work.

Thanks for all the information and suggestions.
