Default So cal made me do it willy's

The so cal guy's made such an awsome video on all there cool willy's builds. I had to give it a try.
This showed up this week.

Oops wrong pic,but the cat realy liked the box.

Its huge next to my rubicon.

I unscrewed the chassis from the frame and this is what i had.

Then I unscrewed the cowl and hood.

The gauges are killer.

Then I cut the hood and cowl apart.I'll have to look for some hinges.

I cut and filed on the stock chassis a little.

Next up was the donor rig.

Then some mock up pics.

I'm gonna try to use the CR-01 tranny with a T-case.

More to come next week.

Sweet!!! I'll keep a close eye on this thread. Are you doing a 4 link or leaf springs??

I'm thinkin 4 link, but leafs would be coolThe frame is really wide and I wanted to use as much of the og frame as i can,so 4 link looks like the best choice.

couldnt you just cut a slot for the leaf shackles and mount them sandwiched in the chassis rail?

Anyways, this is gonna be a great build either way.

BTW cute cat....

are you sure he wasnt looking for any "leftovers" in that box?

Thanks for the support fellas. As far as the frame width. Its not the width of the frame rail that is the problem. Its the width between the rails.
I found a little more time to work on this build today and also found a driver.

Then I did a little trimming under the hood for the CR-01 tranney.

Next up was the install of the transfer case.Pretty much the same as ZoSos rig.Super simple and clean.

More to come later. Its gonna be a slow build.I'm working out of town and only get home every other weekend.and the family needs my time more than this cool rig.

LOOKS GREAT
cut the radiator out and put a screen there
than put a fan on the tranny
you'll see it spinning from the outside
too cool

Thats an awsome idea.I was thinking about installing a fan,but was not sure how to make it visable.I thaught about just cutting a hole in the radiater, but the screen is a killer idea.Thanks.

Default Update

I finally found some more time to do a little work on this rig.I mounted the CR-01 links to the chassis.

Then I fabed up a shock mount on the axle and got some scx-10 shocks.

More next weekend.

Default more progress

I did some more work on this rig tonight.started out slow and mounted the hood hinges.after a shot of some drab green.

I did not like the way the upper shock mounted at an angle in the fender well.So i did a littlt trimming.

Then I made some getofabulas brackets out of an old TLT chassis plate.

The shocks flow alot smoother now and i'm happy with the flex.

I finally have an update for ya guy's.I finished up the rear shock mounts and finally got the rig fully suspended.

Then I finished up boltin in the drive lines.

She was finally ready for a test run so I threw some electronics under the hood and took it for a spin.

I was really impressed with this rig.It wheeled really well and was so cool to watch climb over stuff. The roll overs were really hard on the driver so I started on the cage tonight. This is what I have so far.

Next up is the front bumper and mounting the winch.Stay tuned.

Cool build-up pics.
I mounted Clod axles on my Jeep Willy's body and 4 linked it and was running Jumbo Kong's on it.I think the CR-01 axles look great on that body instead.
