Default Science behind link length

Can anyone guide me to the best length that I should go with on my Willys 1/6. I am trying to decide on running all the links to the center or go with an exact measurement. What will I gain and/or lose with length selection, should fronts be shorter than the rear? Thanks for any help.

There a few thing with links that should be considered.

The longer the link is the less binding there will be in the suspension, just don't go too long. At full droop try to get the links as parallel to the ground as possible and keep the upper and lower links parallel to one another.

As far as having different lengths for the front or rear I would make them all the same length. Since this a jeep and not a tuber this set up would be better. This way you would only have to have one size spare link for the lowers and one for the uppers.

Hope this helps.

This is a scale rig right? Build your frame first, that will determine quite a bit

That is a perfect answer for me. Exactly the info I was looking for. It is the GI Joe Jeep 1/6 that I am building so the chassis is already there.

Do you think a 4 link will perform much much better than a 3 link?

If this is the first time building with links I would suggest a four link set up. The geometry is not as complex as a three link with pan hard bar set up would be.

You could always start with a four link and change it to a three link set up at a later time.

Not the first time because I have been fighting with my Timberwolf links for about 4 months now. But I feel like its my first time because of the headaches. Is there a major performance gain with the 3 link though?
