Smile Emaxx Cxt.

I won this on Ebay. I just received the boxes, haven't opened yet. I got it for 299 and $100 cash back reward I had, so not bad for 199.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=150405747229

Can anyone tell from the pics if this is the new emaxx tranny or the old one?

My plan is to use a 1/6 Fast Lane hummer body on this and make it look kinda like this: http://www.teakatoys.com/v/vspfiles/.../JAF-H16-8.jpg

Just have to figure out how to mount the body in addition to getting electornics installed.

This thing turned out to be quite a bit larger than I expected, this is the largest rc I have now and it dwarfs the emaxx and everything else I have. The CXT body is nice and new but I don't like the look of it on this chassis. However, the new bright H1 body I have looks awesome.

Pics coming up. The above was just a test.

Post Pics......

Electronics loaded up - Evx-2 from my clod and radio gear from the smaller emaxx had to be donated.....

Here is a comparision to the emaxx - this is the 16.8 version.

Look at the tire difference:

This is the H1 body I had laying around waiting for a project that never got beyond planning:

Another one:

Side shot:

Next to the unfinished H2 I'm putting together for my 4 year old:

Size comparision to my cheetah restoration project:

And an original XR311:

That's all for now, need to work on getting the H1 body mountend and maybe pull the wheel extenders out so it looks a bit more like this:

Here is the CXT body it came with - I like it but I think the H1 looks better.

Thanks, I was thinking about opening it up to see what is in there, but I just did a first "check" run and everything is smooth. However, the wheel shafts from the diffs are popping out os I think I need to lower the ride height a bit by moving all eight shocks to the most outer holes on the arms.

Anyone know how to geth the New Era wheel extenders off? I can get the wheels off and the hex that screws into the extenders off, but the extender itself I have no idea how to remove. I could muscle it, but don't want to break it, better safe to find out first I figure.

So, can I call this a "BUDGET" build and get away with it?

So far I've spent:

Truck, with shipping - $240
Evx2- used off ebay - $40
2 550 Titans from ebay - $20
Radio I got with a stock clod a month ago for $200, so I'll say the radio is $50.

That's only $350 total.

Absolutely its still budget!

I mean, look at what you have, and its still cheaper than a brand new E-Maxx!

Well done!

Question Mounting the body.

Anyone ever mount a body so that it sits low but as the suspension pushes the chassis dow and the wheels up - the body moves up so that it never rubs the wheels?

I don't want to mount the body like five inches above the wheels, I want it as low as possible but still not rub the tires.

Any help would be appreciated.

What tires are those and what size are they? Also, do they fit stock emaxx wheels? They're awesome.

You would have to mount the body to the control arms. I see some issues with that because the body would start to flex a lot and probably break at some point of time because of all the suspension movement. Just think about it. If the left front suspension moves up all the way the rear right part of the body would have to move down, most shocks on those trucks sit at full extension. You now are trying to force the suspension to over extend, which it won't so the body will take the flex.

The tires are Imex jumbo swamps, I think. They are heavy and large as you can see. I kinda want to get some tires in the same size but a bit lighter. Had my first run with the truck, it's crazy in the snow, will get pics in the next run.

Ended up running a duratrax 1/8 scale body I had, the body is barely enough to get over the front and rear shock towers, but I didn't want to run the hummer body and have it torn up on the first run.

I'm working on a mounting idea, but you may be right in that the body may simply snap from the flex. Still, I'm thinking....

Planning to putting some lexan on the bottom to protect the shiney stuff, I can tell this was the first run for the truck ever because there "were" no scratches anywhere on this thing. Now it's broken in with some marks on the bottom :-)
