Thumbs down After review many thread about the 1:6 scale willy jeep, I wanna to build one also

Had got the 1:6 willy jeep on the way. The same body as most
And during the waiting, is there anyone can help me on these issues:
1. What axle is fit for this body? seem the SCX10 axle is not wide engouth.
2. If the steering servo is installed on the body (not on the axle), when the front axle moves up and down, will the steering be changed without an actual steering from the transmiter? or how to identify the length of the steering rod with the servo installed on the body?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I modded my body to clear axial axles. Just had to mini tub the rear fenders. No problem

As for the steering. you want to measure for the drag link at actual ride hight. That way in normal conditions it is strait, but as you listed The steering will change throughout the suspension cycle as it will on any 1.1 rig, unless using hydrolic steering. Not going to be by enough to effect anything.

Good luck on ur build

wheely king axles work best
use the RC4WD disrupter transfer case
Axial tranny will work great
mount the steering servo in the chassis against the fender wheel well
servo pointing at the ground
servo arm rotates right to left (this keeps the arm on a level plane)

don't mount the servo pointing at the front, the arm creates a swinging motion (which increases that bump steer)

I moved my servo on my rebuild and it works much better.

good luck
