Default FROADER's 1/6 Ranger

I got the body from "igotit" for a good deal (thanks again), and have a roller as of tonight. It's pretty ghetto, but I used what I had lying around the garage to get it done.

I originally was going to truggy this like I plan to do to my 1:1 '98 w/tons, but I tried out the dd/trail rig look first, and I'm glad I did. I really like how it's sitting. It looks a little like a Ranger with an SAS on 37s. I didn't take a lot of set up pics, but what I used is an x-trail chassis extended with aluminum c-channel. I rigged a second Axial trans to get the drive shafts to reach all the way to the back axle. Hopefully (like they did in the Willys), the Axial trans will hold up to the size and weight of this rig, especially after the metalwork that I want to do.

The body is not mounted yet, but it stayed on the frame pretty good for the pics. Here they are.

Now I just need to get all the electronics in there and test it out. Then I'll figure out the color and design all the metalwork for it.

Do you have a driver left from the Willys that you can stand next to the Ranger so we can get an idea of the size of this rig? It looks like it's a pretty good sized rig.

Thanks! It's actually a runner now, but I need to adjust the suspension. It's got MAJOR torque twist.

I don't have a driver anymore, but I can get measurements of the body. it's definitely big. I don't remember (since I haven't even looked at the truck for a couple of weeks), but I think I set the wheelbase at 17.25".

Thank you. I had a 1:1 '92 SAS Explorer, and now I have a '98 Ranger that will be getting a 60 up front and the 10.5 out back running at least 40s.

Thank you! I searched all of the Ranger threads and almost bumped yours to see where you were at with it!

It's been a runner for a while, but I haven't used it besides testing in the front yard. I need to adjust the suspension because it's got ridiculous torque twist. Life has been getting in the way of working on the RCs lately. That should change soon though.

we should plan a 1/6 GTG ...poker run, a scale comp or just a trail run
The g-spot is great for the 1/6 scale.

Sounds good, Dave. I need to get a hold of some pictures of Axlesnapr's rig to see how he setup the suspension.

No worries.

I'm not looking forward to tweaking it. I know it's going to piss me off before I finish.
