Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Excellent cage design, gives me lots of ideas. Great work. Love the hip bars and the rear spreaders. |

Thanks. Still some work to do on this. Ran out of tubing. Stay tuned. Quote:
Yes sir, right now, it sits at 11.07 lbs. Quote:
Hip bars? Rear spreaders? Engrish please! [emoji51] Cage finish welded and hastily grinded on. Sanding and paint on it next. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...cfe8dd0c89.jpg |
Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Very nice. Very much like how I'm planning mine. Highly debating gutting my Wraith drivetrain for the build as funds have become tight. |

Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build That's neat, Can you show a pic of the hinge? |

Sure, that'll be $14.99 to my paypal. [emoji12] Just a single Carter Fab tab with two on either side on the bumper. Just two on the top. Also, this is all just tacked together. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a35e578baf.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e8c50576ec.jpg |
Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Check's in the mail, :lmao:, thanks, simple enough "thumbsup" |

Took me three tries to bend the main one piece hoop though. [emoji35] |
Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Looking good. I like the tire hagging out on the Jeeps it works like a cushion when they hit something. Wrapping the tire just gives you more weight and something to hang up on. It is pretty though. |

Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Got some parts in that have been backordered. Zeon 1/8 winch and 3" VP LED bar. 6" bar will be installed on cowl bar later http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...470c27c458.jpg |
Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build I broke the winch line on mine the first time I tested it. I bought some 100 pound Kevlar line to use. You may want to look into that. http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...psg0czbaxm.jpg |

Noted. It's mostly going to be for looks. All the hard work done and ready for paint, baking and reassembly. Cage sitting on top of chassis. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2110dd2177.jpg |
Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Painted and baking some parts http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f84dacbb7f.jpg |

Probably the 8th or 9th chassis painted/baked using the VHT engine enamel. Cut and rewelded MIP for the rear http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...31cfcf8cd1.jpg Pretty much done. Will need some shock tuning. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...74eeae79bb.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...beca6a2888.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...9763e166ec.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...8115f43127.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...4fb09e5a27.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...303176113a.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...58647ac908.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...10e44acf2d.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...015025459a.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...9becd82992.jpg |

Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build Transmission mount I made with some 3/16 tube and Carter Fab captured tabs. Really makes me feel better about this trans mounting location http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...c0759c9a7b.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...b77c2fec94.jpg |
Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build July 3rd, 2016 was the last post to this thread. I knew it had been some time, but nearly three years. When Shane, Jesse, Gavin and I met to discuss this project many years ago, these large Willys were not that popular. Seemingly, once the project got started, many other companies were doing the same thing. I didn't care for it, especially when I knew the effort going into this Willys was going to be of a higher degree than others. I was not about to display a new vehicle that multiple people had put work into, for it to be glossed over by content saturation by others. That is reason #1 this project has taken so long. With that out of the way, lets pick up the story. Once Shane had finished the chassis work, I brought the Willys to Jesse of JWalker Design. I do not recall how long it stayed with Jesse, but it was a while since there was not a projected finish date. I do not recall the timing of when I got it back from Jesse. The body work, custom paint and detailing Jesse did look great. So great, that I displayed the Willys on a rack in my office for so long now that it has accumulated these on it: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7829/...b673727d_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7913/...994ae912_b.jpg The time and desire came this weekend to dust off the cobwebs, and get to work. More to come... |
