| Whats up with the wheel/axle interface?
I was looking at the exploded view of a Micro trying to figure out what the hex size is. The parts list shows "wheel hex and pin" but no size or any other info. I'm trying to figure out what the possibilities are as far as mounting up some smaller scale wheels/tires. For a 1:24th scale body. Anybody have any pics or any other insight? I believe I saw 7mm as the hex size. Though I can't find it at the moment. Or listen to Ecoli who posts faster than I do, haha. Last edited by Jamus; 12-01-2009 at 09:09 AM. Reason: slow typing |

I havent really looked at it too hard but I would imagine that the micro desert truck wheels would fit if I remember then correctly. It would be nice to get some more scale wheels and tires for these things.

| Those would be pretty small on there. And they are a slotted axle type wheel not hex

yeah they would be pretty small tires but the wheels coulda been useful in making some custom tires. but I guess they are slotted, for some reason i remembered them being hex

I seen on a different post that the mlst wheels were 7.5mm. I don't have a mlst or wheels that would fit one so I don't know for sure.

As long as it's a standard interface like we're used to seeing (hexes and/or pins) I'm thinking something could be modified to work. Even as small as the Micro is, the wheel/tire size is still too big for 1:24th scale bodies IMO. I'm hoping to be able to mount up some 1:24th scale tires on a wheel that I can adapt to the Micro. It's not like any custom wheel/axle interface would have to withstand a ton of torque anyway. How much power could this little beast have? I found this guy on Ebay casting tires out of urethane, making claims that his tires are soft, sticky, etc. They sure look good anyway. TSL Boggers: Super Swampers: http://cgi.ebay.com/URETHANE-SO-REAL...item2303c4858d They look like they are done in the Xmods format though (bigger on one side vs. the other) which may make wheel choices slim. It will make for more knuckle clearance up front though if the right wheels can be sourced. Thanks for the input everybody... Last edited by Big Mike; 12-02-2009 at 07:13 AM. |

The current stock LMC wheel just barely fits over the knuckle. I dont think a 1:24 wheel would clear. |

I need to study your build thread again when I have a couple minutes. It has some of the best views of the axles, and it's the most heavily modded Micro around here as of yet. Maybe 1:24th scale model bodies are going to end up being too small for this chassis to work out Which really blows because 99% of the model truck kits you find anywhere are 1:24th or 1:25th scale. I've messed with Xmods long enough to know they are technically inferior (I've already gone through one other micro-crawler obsession period about 1 1/2 years ago) and now I have a feeling the wheels made for them are going to be too small. This is getting discouraging. I have seen some 1:20th scale bodies in my internet travels lately, but the choices are nowhere near as broad as 1:24th/1:25th scale...
