Here's my Losi Micro crawler, a couple mods so far and I've yet to finish the body but I wanted to post it up anyway and get some feedback. First I changed where the top of the shocks mount to. I removed the electronics tray and drilled out the holes to fit the shock mounts. Then I drilled a new hole for the upper link mounts to make them closer to parallel with the lower links. I opened the tires up and put 2 wraps of lead on the front rims and one on the rear. Of course I had to do something about the foams while I was in there. I didn't like the stock tires, they looked like the lugs were too close together to get any bite. I opted to cut out every other lug from the tires, I think they look like mini rock grabbers like this.... I decided to upgrade the servo right away. I read that the HS5065MG drops in with little effort so I picked one up. I got a new battery as well, planning on mounting it on the rear axle. I just need to find a good way to mount the ESC and finish the body. I know everyone has a CJ7 but I got one anyway. Mostly because no one in my area has one yet. Here's a picture of a quick mock up on the chassis. |

A little body work today but not as much as I'd like, slow going but it'll be worth it in the end. I mounted the electronics and got a test run in last night. It performs much better than stock and the lipo lasts longer too, getting at least 15 minutes of good power. Here's a couple pictures for now, I'll update on body work later..... |

A little update..... I'm slowly working on the CJ7 but found a cool Hummer body I had to buy. It's from a "Rip Cord Racer" that I just happened to see in a store. The wheelbase is perfect, just needs some slight fender trimming so the tires don't rub. I shortened the servo wire, took the ESC out of the case, wrapped it in electrical tape and stuck it on top of the servo. I also switched the shocks out for MicroT shocks, they are shorter and limit the articulation just right. I had to switch the rod ends but it was quite easy, no modding required. The front MicroT shock is a little shorter so I used them in the back, just mounted the shock a little more horizontal to get the same travel as the front. I had to cut (break) the chassis so the body would fit anyway, it all worked out good. Last edited by AdverseCity; 12-17-2009 at 05:36 PM. |

I found this in Shoppers Drug Mart of all places, just happened to glance over while in line. There's no scale on it but it fits better than any 1/24th body I've tried. There was also an "Offroad" one that looks like a Land Rover Discovery, I might get that one too.
