Default Metal Body????

I found a box of old DUB cars today and it had a few 1/24 Chevy trucks in it. These bodies would make a great scale build but they are all metal. Has anyone used a metal body on the micros? Its pretty heavy. I dont have a micro crawler yet but was seriously thinking about picking one up to do a scale build with a plastic body. Just wondering if it would pull this heavy body and if the shocks were up to it. I would more than likely run a droop setup but didnt know if the shock caps/bodies were up to holding the weight. Let me know what you think because I would really like to use one of the dubbies since all the doors, tailgate, and hood open up and they have a pretty detailed motor/ interior. I tried to put a link up to a pic but its my first time trying to post a pic on the site so it may not come out.

How heavy is "heavy?" It would drop a little weight after it'd been gutted...?

Its probably a couple of pounds. Its about the same weight as a DX6i with batteries. I dont think it would drop much weight after being gutted because the body is what weighs the most. Im thinking its too heavy but I have never seen the micro in action, in person so idk what kind of power it has. Just thought it would be cool as hell to have and extended cab chevy dually micro. The wheelbase is 6 1/4" and its 3" wide.

it's doable, but won't perform well. The body itself is likely to weigh more than the entire crawler, so huge COG problems.

Ohh yeah the body would for sure weigh more than the crawler. I guess I just need to hack it up and see what happens.

Perhaps look into making a DIY vacuum former and making a body off that metal one in styrene or lexan? I plan on doing that eventually with some of my metal models.
