Default Need help - very strange behavior...

About a month ago I purchased a Micro Rock Crawler, my intention was to build a 1:24 scale version of my 1:1 TJ. I got a New Bright cheapo RC for the body, DP torsion chassis, aluminum skid plate...everything was coming together pretty nicely, UNTIL...

When I was putting things together, the orange wire came off the motor. While trying to solder it back on (I'll admit my soldering skills aren't the greatest) the blue one came off. Ok, fun...finally got them both soldered on, plugged things in, turned everything on (and yes, in order - TX, then RX). First thing is the steering slammed to the left and locked there, then the wheels started spinning full-throttle in reverse! I'm pretty sure i didn't reverse the motor wires. I even tried binding the receiver to the transmitter, same thing happened. No inputs from the transmitter helped.

I've read a post or two that Losi's servos aren't the best quality...but I've maybe run 6 charges on the battery through this before I started my scale build. Are they that bad or is something else going on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm okay with paying for a few after-market hop-ups, but to have to replace stock parts when this thing is pretty much new??
