Default Trail Trekker, Shocks Question

Hey all! I have been looking around for an answer, but the search yeilded info I wasn't looking for.

Are the shocks in the Trekker the same exact shocks in the Micro, or are they a bit longer? I am looking into getting the HR air ones and am wondering how they differ from the stock set up.

Can anybody chime in with their experience on the HR shocks?

Thanks in advance!

The trekker shocks have travel limiters.

Is that the only difference BBB?

Ahh, looking at them right now. Will have to remove those for more travel!

I just have to be real careful. I've read that the shocks are pretty sensative and break easily.

Sweet. They look pretty awesome too.

Are they stiffer than the stockers? I got a body to play with recently, but it is a bit on the heavy side.

thetoyz.com

They are under the Micro Crawler parts. The Trekker only pulls up like two things.

Wish I would have seen this sooner... as I would have recommened the much cheaper options, the Driven Productions Torsion Chassis.

Trekker with DP Torsion Chassis

so they are very adjustable to any setup lot of tuning capabilities.
I'm doing a scale project, so the stiffer ride should help with the added body weight right? At least that is what my reasoning is telling me.

the HR shocks come with 3 springs now? I got them when they came out and only came with silver and black (stiff) springs

I just got mine yesterday. There are 3 sets. Two in the bag, and one set already in the shocks.

Alright so here's an update on the HR shocks. They are very nice and I love how they fit on the Trekker chassis. One thing I notice though is that the springs are a lot stiffer than the stock set up!

I currently have the softest springs in, and they are still pretty damn stiff! My hard body jeep would sag the stock suspension, but now it rides nice. I was testing out the stiffest spring set, and those things almost appear as if they can hold up a diecast metal body! lol

Yup...

Do you have any 2mm rods around? Perhaps the ones they sell to make your own links...

Anyways, if you do take your HR shocks apart till you're just holding the casing. Now heat up that 2mm rod, preferable while holding it with needle nose or some sort of non-skin to metal grip. Once that 2mm rod is heated, run it through the shock casing and work it up and down as if it were the shock. Remove the 2mm rod and then put everything back together using the soft springs. Everything is much smoother and softer after doing that.

how old are your HR shocks? Ive read thats a must for the older sets like mine, but Ive also read the newer shocks are much smoother and dont need to be loosened up.

I got my newer HR shocks from thetoyz.com as well. You will have to do the 2mm mod to smooth them out. I also sanded the pistons to smooth them out and used a touch of shock oil for added lubrication. You will also need at least 15mm long 2mm screws to have the proper spacing away from the chassis unless you use the lower shock mount ( but then the ride height is crazy).

Brand new, less than three weeks old... less than two actually.
