Default tranny and spur question

Just ordered a few 2s 350mah lipos and miniQlo tires. I'm gonna go ahead and order the HR tranny case and I was wondering which spur I should get...

Stock motor
MiniQlo tires
2s lipo

Which spur and pinion?

Do you want maximum torque or some speed? More teeth on the spur and/or fewer on the pinion give you more torque. Reverse that if you want some speed. I'd go for a 9T brass spur and the 56 or 59T spur. The 59T spur can be swapped on from the Micro Rally, but you need a Micro Rally clutch to raid parts off. There's a thread in this section on the brass pinion, it's either on the 1st or 2nd page list.

Just to correct ... the only thing you need from the rally, is the spur. The rest is all stock parts from the McRC, and a double-D washer/shims from the Micro-T (from a cheap spur/slipper set - ~$3.75). The aluminum slipper we've been using is a micro-T upgrade, but isn't really needed if you use the Micro-T double-D washer, it's just stouter than the stock plastic one.

I'm also looking at ways to add a reduction unit to the stock motor similar to what we used to do with the Mini-Giants back in the day ... then use the large pinion and a smaller spur ... but this one's still in the planning/research stages.

those are the HR spurs we are referring to ... IIRC HR makes up to 56T spurs for the McRC platform and up to 59T spurs for the Rally platform. EGG figured out a way to use the rally spurs on the McRC.
HR is the only one making spurs for the McRC, so it really kinda goes without saying.

If you're using the stock motor you will want torque.

Yep, if you get MQlo's you'll want all the torque you can get ... 59T rally spur and IPS 9T pinion. I've got a 59T spur and the stock plastic 10T (or is it 11T, never counted really) in DevilFrog and it's almost there but she still gets fairly warm even with the RAM sink. BabyBooger with the 10T pinion and 55T spur and RAM sink was close to smoking after a good run ... no touchy unless you like blisters.
