| Stinkbeast
Ok I know it's a wierd name but its partly from my kids and my odd neighbor when he seen me driving it in the yard testing it. First off my midle daughter was helping me open the tires when she commented that they stank and from my neighbor saything that it moved at the speed of stink but was quite beastly. So....it was dubbed stinkbeast. Here are the parts used. Micro crawler TVP micro crawler trans sumo crawler axles sumo crawler shocks sumo crawler links on rear EXI 9g servo stock losi motor Stock 2.4 elecs with a losi mtx-pro tx Interco boggers BWD large hole weights 2 wraps of large solder around all 4 wheels Zippy 350 2s lipo. I know my steering angle is a little off but I am still testing out links to get it corrected. The rear is jsut about right and there is a decent amount of flex but I don't want to much as this is about high speed rock buggy climbing and general yard bashing. It climbs decent but alot of the time you have to let it roll backwards a little and gun it to bounce up the area. In the last pic you can see how much larger this things is compared to a losi crawler with a DP torsion chassis. The thing handles better than I expected thus far. Tears around the yard and the beefy suspension really helps on hard landings.Really thinking about going with a different motor but it's stock, atomic bb2, or one of DANALLY's motors. DANALLY's are out as his are torque monsters but I dunno. Any input is welcome on this. Anyhow on to the pics. |

horsepower sells car parts. torque wins races. a torquy motor with the right gearing will usually prevail. look at audi and thier diesel powered lemans car. cool rig tho |

elsewhere you do have a good point. I got an idea for a motor I am trying to figure out. I will let you know more when I get some more input.

You want to have some real fun with that beast? Drop a 50t Bigblock with neos in that sucker...Get a micro sidewinder esc....Then run 3s to that beast......... I have been messing with some diffrent setups over the last week on the same axle & trans combo.....This one by far is my fav. for rock racing or FOFF'n its a crazy combo.... Proof is in the vid: |

I think the bigger motor sure does pack the extra punch. It looks like I will be winding a few of his personal motors for him to try. I think a 70t and 80t??? I hope they don't get too hot! | |

I got a PN racing 80t with neo mags sitting on my desk. I dont have a pinion or spur that would work properly for it. Also the big block wont fit in the losi tvp or I would try to shoe horn it in there. I got anothe rproject in the works that I will be posting soon but dont klnow if i will try and big block it or use the sumo trans for some super low gear.

Well had a chance this weekend to sit down and work on it some more. I used the hub carriers from the micro crawler on the rear and rotated the rear servo mounts around. Using the original servo screws and some craft wire I built a holder on the rear axle for my lipo. Then I focused on the front. Redid the bottom links in the front to push the bottom of the axle out a little better to help with the sharp steering angle. It did help but the fornt drag link kept hanging when trying to go up reall sharp inclines. I remember Spoo's post on mcrc and rsmc parts compatablity so it was time for some BTA. After about and hour worth of work I finally got it worked out and now all steering is up and out the way. No more crazy axle angle and no more drag link getting caught. Hope to get some video of it over the next few days. |

Well the boggers are nice but jsut werent doing it for me as well as the rims. We all know go fast rigs need to have a littlebling to them and tires need to be ble to do road/dirt/offroad so the baja claws won. After swapping out the losi spindles into the sumo axles and a little work we have arrived.Enjoy. |

ok having some issues with it now. The motor is getting a little hot so I swapped in one of the new 75t DDT pred motors from DANALLY and it takes off like a shot but will slow down and the motor is a little warm. I have re greased it, swapped from bushings to full bearings, tried 10t and 12t pinions, adjusted drive line angle and everything it is still doing it. After about 30 seconds to one minute it does this. I pulled the esc and put it on a different rig and everything is good there. A diff losi esc and same thing. Only thing I havn't swapped is a servo. I am going to tear this down and start all over from scratch. If this does not work then I guess it will time to go BRUSHLESS. |

from what you described with it slowing down after a short time makes me think its the motor, but since its new idk. i would get ahold of danally and ask him about it since he made the motor

All of the evidence points to friction. Remove the drive shafts and rotate the shaft at the differentials. See if the front or rear is worse, then follow it back. More motor power is not going to fix the original problem. ;)

I have tried a stock motor as well as a DDT motor. I know it is not there. I figure it is something to do with the axles. I am jsut going to tear it downa nd double check everything. most likely going to do a full rebuild or just trade the axles off.
