| Sidewinder Micro in Ridgeback Chassis?
Anybody know if a sidewinder micro esc will fit in a ridgeback? I know it's a tad on the long side. I'm sure it *could* fit, but not sure if that would be awkward or at the expense of space for other electronics. This is for a 4WS project (yes I know I can do this with stock and y-harness). |

It'd be pretty tight, if you used a Rx from an AE XP3ss (Ace/Cougar 3PSi) it might fit as it's the smallest 2.4 Rx. a decased Tekin B1R and the above Rx might fit as well. I know they'll fit my TMC v1 but the ridgeback is even tighter from my memory of it. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using Tapatalk 2 |

I'm going for it. I get the sidewinder micro on Thursday. Oh yeah, it will be tight since the sidewinder micro is so long, but I think I can resolder the capacitor and move it around a bit (here that? that's the sound of my product warranty floating away in a waft of solder fumes..) I think I'll have some challenges sizing down the full size rx. I've already trimmed the pcb down a lot, but I'll have to directly solder some wires to get the JR connectors off of the board and to a smaller connector size. Right now I'm using tekin rs pro in my 1:10 wraith, but I think in the long run I'm going to switch alll esc's to castle (Mamba max pro and sidewinder micro) for ease of programming. Really nothing bad to say about tekin, and I'm sure the B1R is a great ESC as well (and smaller footprint to boot). |

Dude, it totally fits. Kinda. Okay, this was just to check that the ESC and RX work fine and s steering mix works. I just soldered on pigtails, taped everything on, and gave her a spin. 4WS is really nice with the longer wheelbase. Now that I got that done, I'm going to start resoldering connections. I'm going to try to stack the rx and sidewinder micro, and build some kinda alumimum heat sink to sit in between. Here's what they look like taped, and to the left of that is the decased stock esc/rx combo: So good news, it fits, but esc and rx will need some resoldering to clean up wiring. I'll post final pics in my build thread when complete. |
