Most guys on here build one with Redcat axles, Losi tranny, and a good power-plant like a big block.

I built one and it got parted out. It was fun but I lost interest. Search on here for foff and you will find some ideas. Good luck!

I've built both. The FOFF rig had it's pros and cons as did the SCT build. All in all, the SCT dud better and was easier ti keep together. I

Rally wheels, crawler tires of your choice, soft springs/bladder mod, big spur/little pinion, and a low kv motor and you are FOFF'n! The Sct is light, basically a sled( smooth bottom) and durable as hell.

Edit...
BL isnt mandatory, mine runs a DDT 80t predator motor and melts pinions every run almost!

I have the brushless micro SCT! I actually really like it, it's a blast to drive. One issue though is sometimes the throttle doesn't respond. Often this is when you punch it, and you have to release and reapply to get the car to move. I'm not sure why it does this. I say this because I know throttle control is a crucial part of FOFF. I keep meaning to figure it out and fix it but haven't gotten around to it yet. Check out my review that I posted on RC Short Course. Lots of big, clear pictures.

Sure hope you guys with Micro SCTs have a secret for me. I haven't taken mine outside but twice. Every time the tires hit anything other than the carpet, my swept garage floor, or the linoleum the pinion is gone! One little pebble killed that fancy little chromed brass pinion Losi gives you with the brushless model last time, and before that it got a piece of sand stuck in it that locked it up. I'm lucky to get 30 seconds outside before the damn thing sits lifeless...

not going to lie, they're backward. google the tire and you'll see they are all mounted so that they scoop as opposed to vee.

It's okay I've made the same mistakes with other tires.

Looks like you made the mistake again....Those tires perform better in the sand that way.
The scoop's are rather tall & when spun around they dig bad, like your trying to leave the line & now your stuck in a hole on the line
The way they are in the pic lets you float over the top of the sand like a magic carpet ride

Ha smuggl1n you was wrong bro

How about trimming each paddle down in height and running them in the "correct" orientation? Not trying to poke or anything, but I would've tried it because I'm anal about the details. Then again, you have a running FOFF rig, while I nitpick the details of my 1/18 MRC FOFF build, which is sitting in pieces...

Well I tried it both ways & this worked the best I think madjones would agree because in those pics up above, those are my tires on his rig during testing....I have seen plenty of sandrails run in the same direction at the dunes & they tear it up.

& as soon as my b1r gets back from tekin mine will be running again..
Little Focker- Micro FOFF-Test Vid-

I will get a recent pic with the bug body up soon..

Nice start on the mini I can't wait to see it throw'n rooooost, looks real mean!

I was going off the images of them mounted on other cars.

I'll agree about the dig issue however. guess it depends on how soft of sand your used to running. everything near me is gritty and thick. And i've never actually ran paddles myself yet. waiting till I can afford a Axial Wraith for my FoFF build.
