Default Losi Trekker and Sumo Crawler didnt make 1 day

Well gave my kids their presents and they love them..

however with family over and other kids.. they didnt last 1 day.. grrrrr..

sumo.. they somehow ripped out the rear shock apart so need a new lower shock tube... think the sumo part is 24706

losi.. well steering doesnt work well anymore.. now i know it has a servo saver.. so need to look at it..

the steering goes.. somewhat left and right.. so not sure if they burnt out the servo or what...

if I need to replace the servo... ill be looking for an upgraded one then.. so will have to research that ...

yeah i was just posting up the lil quirks that something new can do to ya on a holiday whim!!!! and kids...

i still think the sumo will need new shocks eventually.. that one is still broke.. missing a screw and that hole is broke through.. so depends on how my 6yr old handles it...

you should just CA glue the shock together (if it is the shock cap) I have a losi crawler and the shock cap came off. the tiny screw ripped right through. all I did was removed the tiny screw and glued the cap onto the shock. It is still holding no problem! lol. no springs so no problem changing them out. don't know how the sumo's shocks look though... good luck. one question losi vs. sumo? what do you think?

This is a tough situation question ya got there...

I like both..
the Trekker was slow at first.. with the NIHM battery.. once we went 2s.. WOW she woke up...

so I will do 2 things..

1. Tell you which I like for what...
2. Tell you the Pro and Con in my n00b eyes

1. "Which For What"

1a. Trekker - Think it would make a great TTC rig. That Do all Be all... not specific to say just crawling or scale.... It can be made into a great scaler.. with speed.. but still crawl.. flex, etc... loud driving though

1b. Sumo - Great crawler. Slow.. very slow... due to the gear driven transmission (so I read).... creates a very quiet drive too..

2. pro and con

2a. Trekker
..... Pro
  • Losi
  • Fast
  • Many optional parts
  • Scale looking
  • lipo 2s

..... Con
  • No rear stear from factory
  • Killed a 2s ($30 losi battery) due to no Low voltage disconnect - maybe user error

2b. Sumo
..... Pro
  • rear stear from factory
  • Slow
  • Scale looking - could be
  • lipo 2s

..... Con
  • Slow - but also a Pro
  • Not many optional parts

now I asked a question here.. on how to get a trekker to have 4 wheel steer.. i was told the electronics in the sumo are not that great.. personally i would love to take a trekker.. buy another front axle... and put the sumo transmission and electronics into the trekker....

then 4 wheel steer.. quiet crawling beat...

side note.. have no idea how my 12yr old broke off one of the rear body posts.. but now i have to search for it to buy a replacement

thanks for all the info. well before I asked you this I had only one losi crawler that I turned into a scaler. I now have added a trekker and a redcat. I like them both and plan on upgrades to both also. I bought some new longer motors from ebay that fit right into the redcat it's about 30% longer giving you way more torque and with a lipo upgrade you keep about the same wheel speed. now they come with a transmission that is geared a little different (160 rpm), if change that for the factory one you get a little more wheel speed and still decent torque. I was told by a buddy about this. they are about $ 8 on ebay - Item number: 221032877359. check it out! it is 6v 160rpm but if you switch the transmission to the stock one you get to around 200rpm but with more torque!. have a good one!I love my losi's but like the redcat just as much. I plan for full ball bearings upgrade servos and play with shocks and links for better articulation. also ordered some rc4wd tsl's ....at the end I plan on brazing a really thin brass tube frame. (don't know yet about this one) thanks for everything. have a nice day
