Default I'M BACK with a yota build on the way

Hey guys! I decided it's been far too long since I've messed with rc, so I busted out my old trekker from years ago and figured I'd do something with it.

Here's all that was salvageable.

I ordered up a few odds and ends to get it running, which will be here by the end of this coming week.

Among those things are a 1/20 baywatch model kit and some 3d printed rockstar wheels from fungi!

Once I get the model in I'm going to measure the wheelbase and order a crawlerx smc and some rc4wd boggers.

I'm going to try some things that I've never done before, such as a chassis mounted servo, and all hidden electronics. Should be fun! I'll post pics as the parts come in. Thanks for reading!

I love the 1:20 Toyota's! Good choice. As for the SMC frame, I've been using the 5.5 chassis. Although, Fungi makes a really nice looking chassis also. Here is a pic of my two Toyota's on SMC 5.5 chassis', just for reference for you.

Thanks for chiming in! Your yotas are what inspired me to go with the yota. That and this sexy thing.

Thanks for letting me know the wheelbase. I'll be ordering it soon.

Just ordered a SMC 5.5 EX! I'll order the tires soon, and that SHOULD be the last purchase, but we'll see. ;)

Yota model came in yesterday! Here's the mockup!

Just waiting on the 5.5 ex to come in so I can get to building!

Got some things soldered up! Now just waiting on my 5.5 ex and my driveshafts. I'm getting anxious. I can't wait to start building!

5.5 ex came in today!! I'm pretty impressed with the flex for being leaf sprung.

Those 5.5 chassis have incredible articulation! My little 'Yota can go over just about anything. And once the leafs get worn in, it will flex even better!

I'm running a Danally Stroker motor, an 80t to be exact. I love that motor! It's not fast, but then I didn't build that truck for speed. And it's got more torque than it can handle! They are totally worth it if you wanted to check them out.

Cool project, you guys have me wanting one of those 1/20 bodies and frames. I second R. Billy Rob my Danally 90t motor completely changed my rig...it will pop and pull over everything. I strongly suggest anyone with a micro crawler to upgrade to his motor...you will ask yourself why you waited so long.

The stroker motors are hand wound by Danally. He's a member here on the forum. Just look him up and shoot him a PM, he's more than helpful! The stroker motor is the only motor I will run, unless I'm going brushless.

I got my wheels in today! I'm going to paint them flat black. I'm not sure what tires I'm gonna run. I originally planned on boggers, but I don't know.

I also got the body mounted up front. I'm trying to figure out what to do in the back. Any ideas?

Anyway, here are some poser shots.

When I built my blue Toyota, I really over built it. But it is stout because of it. She's taken some nasty falls, and is still solid. That being said, if you want to see how I mounted my bed, I explain it in my second Toyota build thread.
Toyota: Round Two
