Default How to build custom length driveshafts

Sorry if this has already been covered, just trying to help out.

I see people asking how to lengthen drive shafts all the time. Here are photos of mine that may help you out.

You will need:

- 12" of 9/32 0.20" wall aluminum tube. K&S part #8107. Also, some arrows are 9/32 if you are looking for a cool design or carbon fiber.
- Super Glue
- Small cheap tubing cutter (creates the cleanest edges)

Measure the total length you'll need from diff to transfer case. Subtract the length of both yokes and that's how long you make your aluminum tube. You will have to cut the shaft of the receiving yoke in half. Then super glue the rest of the yoke into one end of the tube and the piece you cut off into the other end until flush. Now just attach to your transfer case, stick your slip yoke in the other end and attach to the diff.

I am using carbon fiber drive shafts and to cut them I marked the rod and stuck it in the drill and spun it as I cut it with the Dremel and that gave me a clean straight edge and is fast

a lot of plastic pens have the right ID too for this, I've been using Bic pens with no problem, might be easier for some folk, I'll try the aluminum tubing next time tho!
