| Ditch your upper plate (Battery/Electronics Plate)
It looks like everyone is doing this to make their rig less top heavy. When you remove the upper plate you need to make sure to replace the reinforcement that you took away. After relocating the ball joints I cut a piece of aluminum rod and put a steel thread through it. I utilized the same holes as the ones for the body mount so I was sure to use the same thread that the body mount screws into. (See attached pic) Relocate the ESC to the back axle. I used a zip tie to guide all the wires forward then some double stick mounting tape to secure it down. The receiver was mounted to a thin piece of PVC that I cut out and hot glued into place. The LiPo battery fits with no trouble on the front link. No clearance issues. Last edited by FDAapproved; 02-22-2009 at 11:56 AM. |

I understand removing the electronics to lower the CG, but Why remove the top plate? Clearence issuses or what? |

Two reasons, one is to move the shockmounts toward center a little. This lowers the ride height, improving the CG. Two, is to remove the dead weight of the plate itself, also helping the overall CG. With the esc/rx and batt. relocated, why keep it? IMO, it looks much cleaner |

Plastic The whole assembly(plate, battery hold down posts & strap, and steel spacers) weighs in at 31 grams! Thats a lot of weight up high on such a little rig. Try it, you WILL notice a significant improvement |

| clean set up
i have my pattery on the rear axel and the elctronics are inside the chassis (motor side) mounted verticle on the chassis. i cut a pic pen and put it inbetween the body post (so the bolt will keep it in place) and used a zip tie to squeeze it in place. but only in the front.

| Its a 2 cell LiPo battery. They are flat batteries that are very low profile. I haven't actually hooked this battery up to the car because I don't have a charger for it yet. At this point I'm still running the stock battery zip-tied to the top, haha.
