| dropped and chopped MRC
Well I was going to wait to get one of these... But broke down just before Crawlapalooza, picked one up on the way there Thursday night  I also bought a 1320 2 cell lipo to go with it. While we waited at Troys (Freetimecrawler) I opened it up and drove over some boxes with it for a few minutes. After that I soldered up some deans connectors on the lipo, stock pack, and ESC. We continued to wait for TJB to show up, and once he called and said how late he was running I decided to pull the shocks apart and put limiters inside the shock bodys. I used a few short pieces of fuel tubing, and lowered it about a quarter inch. I drove it around a little bit on Friday, and a bit on Saturday until I stripped the front diff locker. I pulled it apart, and chip offered to let me take one out of his own truck :o Awesome offer, but I decided to try and fix the locker once I got home. Last night after a long day at our finals, rather then getting the sleep I needed I decided to carve a locker out of some aluminum. I didn't take pictures of it, I was tired and its very ugly... I used some 1/8" scrap I had, and drilled two small holes for the center slot using the drill press. I then used some small files to smooth the two holes into a long slot. Once that was finished I traced the stock locker onto the aluminum with a sharpie. Using a hack saw and a vice, I rough cut the locker out, and notched the corners. Finished it up with some hand file work, and after a few test fits I had a working locker again With that done, I decided it was time to ditch the stock electronics tray and relocate the electronics. I flipped the transmission and skid plate around, so the battery could fit on the front upper link. Then the lipo went on the front link, esc on the back upper link, and the receiver on the back servo plate. I also had to move the shocks, which lowered the truck even more. Now I was able to lower the body quite a bit, I really like how it sits now. I finished it up today after work, I had to bolt in a couple cross members to stiffen it back up again. I also added 1.4oz to each front wheel, going to drop in 0.7oz in the rears later tonight Here are the pictures. |

Wow, thanks guys Getting the body as low as I could was the main goal, and I think it looks wicked with the lid sitting that low. Thinking about upgrading to a standard size servo and making some new steering links using these old ball ends I had stashed away. |

Picked up a Futaba 3305 standard size servo, puts out 98oz at 4.8 volts. Should do the job just fine. Also found a servo horn with M2 threads, so I could use the MRC ball ends with it. |

Great looking rig Etype. The body looks aggressive cut, I will be following your lead there if I ever pick one of these little guys up. Any more plans for this one yet?

| Its interesting that the package says MRC on it. Talk about your insight into the future of R/C produced ~15 years before the release of Losi's MRC!

Well that didn't last to long.... Found a scale body that I liked, so the comp rig is out the door! I'll be building up another 1.9 comp rig in the spring. |
