So i can't stand how week my steering is with the stock servo, going to upgrade. Is the hitec 645mg the way to go? I see lots of people have used that one. Do i need to run the servo saver with it? and will it cook my esc? also what mounting plates have you guys used succesfully to mount it or should i just whip one up? Thanks I just need some awnsers since my LHS is about 3 hours away i want to get what i need in one shot.

yea you could definately use that as a servo. I am actually using the servos from my traxxas E-revo. (i have 4 wheel steer) these work great too and they are waterproof which is cool and i just had them lying around. as far as mounting goes i have seen several people use the servo mounts from the AX-10 and drill holes so they fit and what not or you could just fab one up real fast too it isnt to hard to do. I actually made it so that the servo was offset next to the wheel so i could fit the receiver next to the front servo and the esc next to the rear servo. |

I have had good luck with a 645 and the stock esc, others haven't had as much luck. :-( You won't need a servo saver with the 645. I used the mounting plate from a TLT, but others have used the axial plate. | |

I've had no prob's with the stock one after I tightened up the servo saver on it, and I'm running aluminum b-locks with weights.

Yup have to agree the hitec 645 is the way to go!! Not too big, but does the trick. Had to fab up a new plate and mounts for it but hey if it last longer than the Losi or hitec 225 I will be a happy man. Also took out the stock steering arms and replace with some stainless. Working good so far. |

Forgot to mention when I contacted Hitec about the 225 they said that it is just not a good servo to be running on this crawler. It just does not have enough torque to keep up. So far all you looking out there dont waste your money on a 225, always remember bigger=better, okay not all the time.

also check out the tech section on the home page of rcc there is a great article on there about propperly setting up steering geometry. will definatly lead you to make your own custom links. i really dont like the way the stock steering links are set up on a stock mini and the article will show you why. just little ajustments in the geometry of the links go a long way Last edited by NeXt559; 11-05-2008 at 09:29 AM. |

Any aluminum horn for a hitec should work, dynamite makes some. Today i installed the direct servo horn included with the MRC, and my stock servo is holding up fine. I'm not being nice to this thing either. |

As most people so far on this thread.... I also installed the Hitec 645, I used an ax10 servo plate and had to drill one hole into it... ended up mounting it to the original plate for the stock servo.. Im also running a Castle Creation BEC, I haven't had a chance to make some new front links for steering yet but that will be the next project.. |
