yeah but the dental plaster is kinda costly and about linex you do have to take it to them to spray but dupla color make a good spray on in a can and th sparay cans dont cost that much that would be the way to go dont get the roll on it has some thing in it that messes with the foam and make it spongy

Here's another interesting method, which I found by searching here, and I am actually working on making some of these myself too.

Indoor course ... How to:

So far it's been fairly inexpensive and easy. I have 3 decent size "rocks" drying at the moment and if it all turns out good I'll post some pics when they're all done.

as far as the line x goes one of my freinds works at a detailing place so I got my course sprayed there but he says that the duplicolor bed liner in the can(not the roll on stuff) should work pretty good too no pics but will try to get some for you...

i was thinking of useing 4x4 and 4x8 8" thick foam slab glued to about 4' tall and fiberglass mesh w/rubber overcoat then rock colord stucco ontop of that. the 4x4x4 and 4x8x4 pods would be arrangable. useing hotwire and saws/sanders to create rock surfaces.
