Default Griz's Team RCC/Holmes Hobbies Reign R/C Losi Mini

So I finally picked one up a couple weeks ago. I'd driven rubbaneck's before but after watching the 1.9 class run at the last comp, l just had to have one.

First here are the specs:
Mamba25 ESC
Castle BEC
Hitec 645MG
Losi Mini-T springs/stock black rear spring
Stock wheels with bb's for weight
Ace's 1.9 memory foams
mini Masher 2000's
Losi Bronko body
E-flite 800mAh LiPo

Since I can't stay away from the Bronco bodies I thought I'd name this one The miniDuke as a tribute. I'm really happy with how the Team RCC colors turned out.
Hope you like it.

Before I bought it I knew what changes I wanted to make to improve it. First thing I did was move the rear upper link. I drillled and tapped the end to 3mm and installed a shock rod end from my parts box. Then I mounted a TLT link mount to the rear servo plate. This put the rear link at a better angle and reduced torque twist. It caused more axle swing under articulation but it's livable.

Next I limited the shocks. I opened them up and replaced the internal plastic limiter with some fuel tubing. The pieces I made are twice the length of the plastic ones. I then filled the shocks with some Traxxas oil I had. It seems to be about 30wt.

With the shocks being shorter I used Mini-T rear springs. I left the stock black spring at the left rear and put a blue mini-T spring on the right rear. The front shocks got green mini-T springs.

These mods have reduced the articulation and ride height and the torque twist seems to really be under control.

The 645 servo was mounted with an Axial servo plate and TLT servo mounts. The steering link was made from a short Traxxas link. To help the 2mm screw fit in the rod end a little better, I used one of the brass sleeves that comes with the servos. It's still a little big but it seems to work for now.

Thanks akguanja. They were originally for a scale build but they ended up too short. The 4" height was just right for this one though. We'll see how they do.

Darn you, I thought the colors just looked cool. Now I'm just thinking of Christmas when I look at the pics.

I like it. (The color and BronKo body)

But it needs some different tires, never been too impressed with mashers. I know they have a big following but they just never seemed any better than what I had been running. Maybe it's just me.

Is that Kirby Morgan dive gear your sporting in the pic on your desk?

Very nice sir. I need to get a bigger servo on mine. Have you added any weight yet?

Great, another one...

Looks fine and dandy Chris, I like the upper link mount addition too. Keep the wrenches turning.

Thanks Robb. I did a custom mix of black and pearl siver to get the charcoal colored flames.
I went with the Mashers because I had them laying around and I have to limit my R/C spending right now. Hopefully they will work ok for now.

Good eye Robb. Yup, that's me putting on a Superlite 17 on a jack-up barge in the Gulf of Mexico. Back when I was commercial diving.

We'll start here and see what needs to be tweaked. It seems to be quite a bit better than stock though.

Thanks John, the 645 doesn't seem to be a whole lot more powerful than stock, but I figured that with a solid horn it would be more reliable for sure.
I did add weight, the wheels are full of bb's under the foam. I thought I'd start with that and the servo adds some extra weight to the front end. If needed I can still add lead to the inside of the wheels. I didn't want to go overboard on the weight right away though.

Thanks Norm. I knew from the moment I saw an MRC that I wanted to put the Bronco body on it. It turns out to be the perfect size.

Thanks Mongo. We've got a comp this weekend so I'll get some action shots for sure.

Thanks swell. I like the colors too.
My first thought was to do a 4-link also. But then this idea came to mind so I thought I'd give it a try. This weekend will reveal alot about the setup.

If you cut the stock link in half and drill/tap it for the rod you get 2 rod ends with the right size balls.
