| Cheap Motor...Impressive Performance
I just swapped out my Mini Torquemaster motor for a Venom Fireball 370P that I had leftover from my son's Mini Giant hop-up a few years ago. I also dropped down to a 10 tooth pinion (I was using an 11 tooth with the Holmes motor). I got an increase in wheel speed and it still has more than enough torque to tear up the slipper. Starts reliably and it works great at slow speed with my Tekin FXR. Best thing about it is that the motor only cost $7.99!! http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHUM8&P=7 |

Would work well for stock trannies. It is fixed timing, so it will burn up with a flipped tranny.

The Venom motor is fixed timing, but it runs the correct direction for the flipped tranny. Well I guess I'm not the first, I found some threads where other people are using this same motor: Venom Fireball Micro 370P Motor in an MRC pics and description of vulture tuber My crazy frog mrc |

So it is timed for clockwise direction, looking at the mounting face?

Well I haven't flipped my trans and have been using the stock pinion etc with my fireball and it is still pulling strong after running through a few charges on a ThunderPower 1320 2S lipo.

I took one apart I had laying around, and it appeared to be timed for counter-clockwise direction (stock tranny). Upon putting a battery to it, I couldn't tell that one way was faster however.

| I'll have to take a closer look when I get home from work. I just assumed that the rotation was correct because I hooked the tab marked + on the motor to the + on the speed control and the MRC went forward when I hit forward throttle. Throttle channel on the radio is normal, not reversed.

I would assume the same as you then. Mine spins clockwise when power is applied with proper polarity as well, I looked right past the little printed + on the can |

| I never said that I wasn't happy with the Torquemaster motor. It is very high quality. I'm still going to use it in my other MRC.

I have run both motors in my MRC. I ordered a Torque Master mini from John, and loved it over the stock can! I run a flipped tranny and unfortunately my motor fell victim to reverse timing issues. I contacted John and sent him my fried motor. He replaced it for me at NO chargeAWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE While my Torque Master was away I installed a Venom Fireball 370. IMO there is NO comparing these motors. HH's Torque Master wins hands down! Yes the Venom has more wheelspeed, but at what price? TORQUE! The Fireball has NO balls! In low throttle high load situations the Fireball takes a Sh*t ! The Torque Master will power thru. If wheel speed is that important, gear up. I run 7.4 lipo thru a CC Sidewinder Micro to a Torquemaster w/ a 16t pinion, and I have almost as much wheel speed as the Fireball offers, but with 3 times the guts!!

| Until you consider the price. Sure the Torquemaster has more balls in the low end, it also has adjustable timing, replaceable brushes, ball bearings etc.... It is a much better motor. Like I said originally the best thing about the Venom is the price! And with a 10 tooth pinion it has more than enough balls to get the job done. |

I still have not found a place were my Venom would stall out ven with alot of added weight to the rims and in high traction situations.

I would agree that the venom can is better than stock. I never had a chance to run a smaller pinion on the Fireball. I'm sure that makes a lot of difference in the low end. I'm not hating on the Fireball, I tend to really like most of Venom's products. And at $8 you really can't do yourself wrong w/ a fireball. IMO, price aside, the torque master is the best motor currently on the market for the MRC |

| i think ill get the torque master mini
The fireball gets hot and my lipo gets hot and goes away much faster than with the stock motor. I am running a 13t pinion and waiting for an 10/11/12 a bigger spur gear would be cool too. With the 13 the fireball just doesn't make a crawler, rock racer maybe. It's fun to watch it jump. cheers, Wade |

I ran the fireball in my MRC with a flipped trans. Ran around 20 packs with no issues. I could be wrong but I believe the fireball is timed to 0 degrees. Shouldn't pose a problem. Go with the TMM, you wont be sorry |

If you're on a budget, you won't be sorry with the Fireball either and you'll have more money for beer, or whatever else you like to spend money on! Last edited by toybuilder; 12-01-2008 at 02:58 PM.

Beer or motors, not a tough choice for me! I would choose beer!

| I just want to make it clear that if I wasn't on such a tight hobby budget, I would have two Holmes Torquemaster Mini motors. The Venom motor is not better IMHO, it just packs a lot of bang for the buck. Last edited by toybuilder; 12-01-2008 at 11:30 PM. Reason: added a coma where it should go |
