| Pinion and Spur Gears
I have been looking and want to know what my options are for gearing for my mini. I installed a torquemaster mini and the wheelspeed is awesome but it is a little more than I need so I want to lower my gearing to get a little more low end power. What options are available? Anyone know what pitch the teeth are? Will this work? http://www.tcscrawlers.com/9-Tooth-3...5-p-16350.html Also... what are the stock tooth count of the pinion and spur. (sorry im away from my mrc for a few days. |

no that will not work first off the hole for the shaft is too big so the gear will not be centered, I think that is for bergs..here is one option you get 2 spur gears for like $5 bucks.. and that is the part number right from losi I know it says "mini-T" but it is the right part.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Team-Losi-Spur-G...15111009r12640 Last edited by OHU812; 01-05-2009 at 05:10 PM. That sounds good. I may have to try a 12 at first and even a 10.. Who makes the 12 you put on yours Joat?

| associated I think, was for a rc18t?, but I think the hpi micro work also, just be careful the tip of my motor where is was flat spotted for the set screw broke off, i ended up having to space the motor out about 3mm and flipping the pinion around to get it to work.

I'm using a 11t rc18 pinion on my stock motor. it was the smallest one i had in the junk box. Associated does make a 10t also.

I was seriously going to ask this same question this afternoon but worried about getting flamed. I found out that the "RC18T" pinion that everyone is referring to is a model of RC car. When I went back to my hobby store and casually asked for a RC18T pinion in 13 tooth I got exactly what I wanted. I had been laughed at a few days before when I wanted a pinion gear for my Losi MRC. The factory put in a 14 tooth. I bought a 13 and a 12 by Associated. There is another brand called RR or Robinson Racing. My dad put a 13 in his a few days ago and says there is a noticeable difference and it actally tries to wheelie on carpet. Losi only recommends down to a 13T. One guy on the forum went down to a 10T but had to file the slots in the adjustment. Hope that helps. |

I am running a 19turn Reedy stump puller, 62 tooth aluminum spur, and a 11t titanium pinion. It is awesome...super grunt and just enough wheel speed. I tried the 10t, 12t, and 13t and found the combo I was running was best on the 11t. Just be careful of the smaller tooth aluminum gears, they are mostly made of cheap pop can material and I stripped 2 out before finding the titanium and steel ones. Mine is a little noisy with the aluminum spur and metal pinion but I like how it runs.
