Default Shock ball end options

I have competed in a few comps over the last few weeks and had the same problem in both. The shock ball ends keeped pulling off of the shock shaft. I installed new ones and ca ed them between comps and still pulled one out. Does anyone know of a stronger or longer ball end that would work?

If the angle is too great the shock will pop off of the ball. I am assuming that you have the shocks mounted to the outside of the side plates. Try mounting the shocks on the inside of the plates to reduce the angle.

The top is not the problem its the ball end on the shock shaft. The shaft keeps pulling out of it.

The thread on the shaft itself may have been damaged the first time it pulled out. New plastic won't fix this......only new shafts. I'd check em out and see if they seem rounded off or damaged.

or you can try apply jb weld, lock tight or CA glue to the threads before installing the rod ends.

Do you think this issue would be because the suspension wants to travel further than the shock will allow, putting stress on the treads and pulling them out? I have seen photos of limiting straps being used in the 1:1 crawler world so that the strap tightens up before the stock fully extends and keeps stress off the sock and prevents damage to the internals of the shock.

Here is a link I found off google looks like it is on a sand buggy but you get the point.

Since it is the bottom end of the shock, check the threads on the shaft see of they are still sharp and not rounded over. If the shaft is fine then the plastic has stripped out and will have to be replaced.

How did this initially happen?

The first time it happened when the articulation was maxed out. I have a little over tires hiegth for articulation. The second time with new plastic it was on a climb that had a twist to it.

If it is the threads on the shaft are they sold seperate?

although good thinking, a limiting strap wouldn't be needed in an mini crawler. There just simply isn't enough weight there for that to be the reason of the rod end being pull away from the shock

You have to admit some scale limiting straps would look pretty cool

Okay so the limiting straps might be a little crazy so here is another hair-brained idea. I'm just going to lead balloon this over....maybe something is causing the the shock shaft to rotate and unthread it from the end. Are there internal springs that could slowly be rotating the pistion when they compress?

both stronger and longer
