Default Lipo cutoff

So I've ruined two batts now (eflite 7.2v's from my Blade CX2) forgetting and leaving them plugged in.

Any suggestions for a stand-alone lipo voltage cutoff? I'm not to the point where i want to invest in a sidewinder micro or similar esc, but 10-15 bucks is do-able.

Even a cut-off plugged in can ruin a pack...it constantly checks voltage...might be small amperage but still not a fix.

You need to unplug the battery it isn't that hard to do.

Hrrmmm. Good to know. And lolz, you're right. Summoning enough brain cells to REMEMBER to unplug it - that's the hard part.

I have seen small voltage alarms for around 6 bucks. They will sound an alarm when the pack gets in the 6 volt range. It was mentioned in a thread on here with in the last week. I think the thread was about what 2c Lipo people were using. Might not help if you leave the pack plugged in and are not hearing range of the car.

Give this a look; I'll be using this on my MRC, and it is not only audible, but displays different colors of light to show you the status of the battery.

You can get a cheap timer at Home Depot that plugs in an outlet and has an outlet on it, this might help.

Yeah, found the other thread, and was looking at something very similar on maxamps.com. Also says "do NOT leave the unit plugged into your pack while not in use." Wonder how long it would take that little buzzer and the LED's to kill a small pack. (If forgotten and out of earshot like uniballer mentioned.)

I imagine it would take a while but it would drain it. If you have as much of a concern as you seem to have about leaving your lipo plugged in then I think you need to invest in a cut-off.

Do you need a Lipo cut off when using the Losi Lipo battery packs made for the MRC? I do not see any documentation referring to this. Does the stock ESC have Lipo cut off?

The stock ESC does NOT have a lipo cut off.

Yes using any lipo means you need either a cut-off or stop before it gets to low.

For any Lipo battery the lowest voltage you should drop it to is 3.0 volts per cell to avoid causing any permanent damage. If you have a nice charger like a Triton 2, an ICE or something of that caliber, it is sometimes possible to bring a Lipo back from a lower voltage dump than that, however most of the time it's never the same again.

Did some research....without dropping the cash on a new ESC, I will try the Novak Smart Stop for a 2 cell LiPo on the stock MRC ESC.

Default 3c lipos

Have a three cell without a balanceing plug on it have no idea of the voltage? chaged it a few times everything seems ok? Bought a new pack one cell was 2.56 and one 5.00 keep messing with it have been able to get low cell up to 3.28 but the one cell hovers around 5.00 never droping below 4.98? have heard horror stories about fires and explotions!
any suggestions? Vender said I could send it back guess this would be best, poor little truck no power for a while. would like to avode that do not like to return thing should be able to do this myself.
