Default lipo on stock esc

i ran a 800 mah 7.4v 2cell lipo on my stock mrc esc today with no problems. will i get problems in the future?

Only if you run it down too low because there is no Lipo cut off. I ran a lipo on my stock ESC for months without a problem. I would just stop using it after I noticed a slight performance drop.

What do you guys think about running a 9.6v nicd battery on the stock esc?

The factory pack is 7.2v.
When you go increasing the voltage to the electronics you put them under more strain than they were designed for. You may get lucky and not have any problems at all. But if you cant afford to buy all new electronics then my advice would be to not run any more than 7.2v. First, you may blow a resistor or you may fry chip. Even if the electronics survive the increase, you put alot more power to the motor which will make it run hotter. It will give you an increase in speed and torque, but it will make the motor die sooner.
