now for more pics

^^ can this steering link geometry get any better? i vote that it cannot!

more upgrades soon
went to my lhs today and picked up 2 hs-5245 mini servos, and a set of g8 flat irons. i'm also begining talk to some builders about a campbell style buggy

are you sure you werent over throwing them?
a couple of people have had issues which were quickly fixed by adjusting the steering rate

the main reason they have been burning up is because they have been being over thrown!
when setting up your steering rate make sure to check it both left and right.
adjust the steer rate to whichever side has the least throw.
adjust the steer rate only as far as the servo will go w/o buzzing. then pull back again just a tad.

this is steering servo 101 guys

before i upgraded to the hs5245's i was using the stock losi mini servos. and ive had my mrc since it's release. the only reason ive had to ugrade was because of how much heavier the rig is compared to its stock form. and a hard turn w/ all that extra weight has caused gear stripping in my front servo. to be honest the rear stock servo is still in perfect shape

also ive been getting numerous pm's about what parts will be needed for the 4ws mod. note that all parts i list are the stock losi parts and can be updraded to your choosing

Axle Shafts: LOSB1406

Axles: LOSB1407

Front Spindles & Carriers with Hardware: LOSB1409

Steering Links, Long & Shord: LOSB1410

Complete Screw Kit: LOSB1419
*not really a "must have" you are only going to need the one long screw for that connects the knuckle, drang link and tie rod. but it is good to have in tool box in case you loose any tiny screws.

Servo Plates & Mounts: LOSB1421

Servo Saver & Arm Set: LOSB1422
*you'll mainly need this if are using the stock losi mini servo.

MSX12 Digital Mini Servo: LOSB0822
*other mini servos that are drop in replacements would be the Hitec HS-225MG; HS-225BB; HS-5245MG (if they are any i missed please pm me and i will edit if needed)

as for wiring you either need an extra 3rd channel on your radio w/ at least 3 positions or a wire harness w/ a reversing module

How are u suppose to adjust the servo? Had it set to turn till each knuckle was just a c-hair away from each steering stop. No dice. Put a 645 on and no probs... Plus even after you Buy the full size servo mount they are still half as much as the 5245's. Make yer own mount and save even more. More torque and no issues.

What? That made no sense to me. But thanks for listing the parts and part numbers NeXt550, that will be of use to me in the future.

im not doubting that the 645 is a stronger servo and in turn have less of a tendancy to get fried

dont know what radio you're using but imo the stock radio doesnt have the adjustability required to use your servo at its optimum level
(btw im using a dx3r)
example:
my subtrim is set to "L3"
left steer rate is set at 93%
right steer rate is set at 81%
even w/ the different steer rates i get the equal amount of turn left or right.

also i stuck w/ the mini size servos for 2 reasons
1- imo the standard size is looks way to big on the mrc axles
2- i havent needed all that extra torque...... yet

i say "yet" because the new tube chassis is being designed and fab'd by gadge as i type

ive always admired this rig built by a local 1:1 shop

after sending gadge some reference pics he sent my a quick doodle a very short few hours later

here's a quick lil teaser for the build

as you might notice it's noticable larger that orignal. we're shooting for maybe 1/14- 1/12 scale

i asked him to make the roof lne a tad lower that the top of the head rest. i just thought it would help bring the gc down a lil and i also thought it would give the overall rig a stout, and more agressive look

Well after searching thru alot of pictures, think I got a plan....and then some
" The NeXt Trail Gear MiNi "
and yes we are building a 1/12 scale rig with the changes as requested by Next and a few to make things fit n clear, ...gotta nip/tuck panhard mounts a bit
And to top off the doodle decided to build one for myself, or someone..??
Well call it a styling exercise, ...practice or ????

"Now heres where (love this part) I make Next say "awesome" again......

###keep in mind this is going to be a bit larger to fit AX-10 but a shape of things to come, I'll do a 2.2 or AX thread when I have time

The chassis for NeXt will be 75% of this size for 9.5" wheelbase

Sorry for the tease NeXt but .........got it in my head

THE SHAPE

THE TUBES

AND DONT FORGET DETAILS

Will I/the rest of us be able to get this tube chassis? I imagine so, but I just want to be sure. It looks awesome, and it's just a 'doodle'.

got the stock chassis plates to use for template seeing that I'm just stretching the chassis 1" so stock links will work..just have to extend d/s's
well heres the start of the MiNi chassis

for the small scale 1/8 round stock...with p-coat = 1 5/8" to scale
well gotta run n fire up the torch.......
