Default Fubar Mini Skeeter

Hey guys,
This will thread will be for the buildup of my Mini Skeeter from John at Fubar Crawlers. I will be testing and trying things out in hopes of some time/practice on the rig, mainly to get ready for the up and coming season. I bought an MRC some time ago and it just sat with maybe 15 minutes of run time on it. When I saw the Mini Skeeter and knew I wanted to build a comp worthy 1.9, I immediately set a pm Johns way. Here are some specs of what I will be running.

Chassis;
Fubar Mini Skeeter

Suspension:
Losi threaded shocks (limited 3/8")
Delrin links front and rear
Delrin bent rear lowers

Rims/Tires:
Proline 1.9 Chisels
Proline 1.9 Titus/Titan black beadlocks
Proline 1.9 memory foams

Body:
Proline 1.9 Bug body
Upgrade-rc stickers

Drivetrain:
Mip center cvds
Losi diff lockers
Losi center locker
Losi aluminum locking hex's

Front Axle:
Losi cvds
Losi aluminum steering arms
Losi aluminum carriers

Rear Axle:
Losi aluminum lockouts
Losi aluminum ss axles

Electronics:
LRP brushless crawler esc
Airtronics 94162z servo
Aitronics M11 with 2.4ghz
Airtronics 2.4ghz receiver
Reedy 2c 7.4v lipo
Black 16awg wire- trick looking
Losi stock motor for now
Soon to be Bills crawler motor from motorman1600

Onto the beginning pics

I picked the Bug body because I know that on virtually any chassis you can SLAM it LOW. With it's great roll over ability, sleek look, and ability to ride like a "low rider", I knew it was the body to run.

With the ease of a 3 piece design, great look, and simple weighting system, I decided to run Prolines 1.9 black Titan/Titus beadlocks.

Some goodies to make the MRC axles bulletproof.

Goodies in the mail. hehe

Who could go wrong with a Mini Skeeter. AMAZING price and shipping, great design, and all the parts to boot.

All unpacked

Matte finish chassis plates with 3mm holes .

Simple yet very effective servo/link plates.

This is for some reason the MOST slick skidplate I've ever had. It even has a recessed hole for the bottom most screw on the MRC trans.

Included hardware.

First thing to do was find the appropriate hardware in ss. Love the look of a black chassis with silver hardware.

More updates tomorrow.

DO WORK!

Looks like a nice parts list, and expensive too!

I see you finally got it! Can't wait to see how it performs on the rocks. Doesn't seem to matter what you're wheelin', you're always a force to be reckoned with

I believe they were ordered from Mc Master-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/ They also supply Delrin in various sizes.

Thanks 2JSC, yeah I wanted to basically go all out. Since I don't compete with 2.2 I wanted 1.9 to be my main focus. And your right, it's definitely expensive haha.

This actually came in 2-3 days(super fast), it was a different item that took long. It will be an amazing wheeler. Thanks man, still have to practice all the time haha.

Thanks and your skeeter rig looks great too! Basically, if it has a Skeeter under the body, it's a sick rig. And as Mike stated, the order of screws is from Mcmaster in socal.

Man I love the look of silver hardware and black chassis plates.

Inboard 4 link for the lowers, and the slickest skid on the planet. Also note the recessed holes for the trans bolts.

Here is also a shot of the "pocket" for the bottom most tab/screw on the MRC trans.

Two things to note, this chassis is narrow, also the tab/screw mount sit nicely in the pocket.

So sleek and low.

This thing has amazing fit and finish.

So the servo can mount flush, I counter sunk the 3 servo/link plate holes.
Counter sunk on the left, unmodified on the right.

Also got the MIP center cvds mounted up on the trans side. These things are beef cakes.

Thanks! Good point, the Mini Skeeter is pretty much the bees knees... thats right the bees knees, I'm bringing it back..

I love the skid plate too, mainly the center tab for the lower link screws. I've seen a lot of other chassis that use a nut at the end of the screws, just doesn't look solid that way.

Sweet! That must be fairly new, I had to grind down the plastic on the bottom of the tranny to get mine to mount flush. I love how John is still improving the chassis...

HAHAHA, good to see the bees knees is making a comeback. I'm going to somehow use that at work today. Yes the captured 25mm screws is a big plus. Having 2 nylon locknuts hanging off the skid wouldn't be very beneficial. Yeah it must be a newer design, I remember seeing the pics of your grown down tab.

Chassis will all the lower delrin links.

Bent rear lowers.

Straight front lower links.

Now it's time for the axles to be built

First the MIP center cvds

Front axle with all the goodies

Front steering arm, carriers, and aluminum locking hexs.

It now has button head 2mm screws instead of cap heads.

Rear lockouts, straight axles, and aluminum locking hexs.

Update for the night.

I immediately noticed here that my lower links weren't long enough.

So I added 6mm spacers and it set my ride height and wheelbase much better.

Mounted up some Proline 1.9 Chisels on Prolines newest and greatest 1.9 black Titan/Titus beadlock.

All mounted up, now it's time for some detail pics of what's installed.

I'm using scx10 tree parts to mount the body.

Here is another shot.

Axial 7mm posts to finish off the steering.

Axial 2mm spacers to offset the shocks correctly

The LRP brushless esc to deliver the power.

The power that's coming from Reedy's 1600mah 2c

And lastly some body shots(that sounds funny).

Thanks, Yeah the built axles are a huge plus. The rigs got close to 10+ hours of run time now. Not one single hicup or problem. The tires are HOOKING up on everything. Out here in Socal they're even hooking up great wet, dirty, off camber etc.

Thanks man. The rims are a God send. 12 easy screws and your all set, and will have the best beadlocking rim for the best price too.

I personally bought the esc from Corey at RPPhobby.com . Currently, I don't believe anyone has the esc/motors separately, so I have a spare motor haha.
ASCLRP80629- Brushed combo with 55t
ASCLRP80628- Brushless combo with 21.5t - What I am running in my rigs

Thanks James. Yeah I wanted to make sure I got the good stuff. Speaking of, I need to pick up some servo horns from Noel at RCP. You guys should try and make it out some time or even throw up a banner over there.

Yeah, they are I'll admit that at first I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't and inner lock ring like on the outside. But then I mounted a set of tires and love only having to do 12 screws per wheel
