Default HH Mini Torque Master & Stock ESC?

Finally got my MRC all together, and the motor died almost immediately... It was the stock motor (I bought everything used, have no idea the shape it was in).

So, I'm looking for a replacement, but I have no plans of replacing the ESC any time soon. Will the Holmes motor work with the stock ESC on 2 cell lipo? What are some other options without spending a ton of money? I've heard of the slider motor (whatever that is), but it also looks like you have to jump through hoops to make that work, and I'm all about low hassel.

The holmes motor will work fine with the stock electronics.

It may run a little warmer than the stock motor, but it shouldn't be a problem

I'm using the HH motor and a 2S lipo on the stock ESC and love the combo. I figure I'll run it until the ESC craps out before I bother changing it. One thing I did do though is pop open the case and replace the wires with motor and battery wires with longer ones. I'm going to do the same with the rx wires just to have a little more flexibility in mounting the electronics.

I'm not 100% sold on where I have the electronics mounted, but I'll see how it does and go from there. I've had the truck for over a month and haven't got to run it yet - LOL - been too busy redoing it all.
