Default Lil Joe my mrc scaler update 2-13-10

ok here is my lil jeep I built for my 1.9 scaler. this thing works good. I am running an xl-5 esc and a frame mounted full size hitec 645 servo. The axles are stock, except the metal lockers and the alum front steering knuckles. the body is from Big Lots and looks like the wild willy jeep, but is made of black plastic. It measures out to the 1/10th dimensions of a real cj2a.

all done and after much wheeling.

next to the blazer. before the cage.

with the landy wheels. the offset is just too shallow, Im looking into wheel wideners to make it more stable

I'm not a scaler guy,but I love your flattie.I'd paint the Landy wheels to match the body.

That is cool but you might want to check out yer front end looks like some kind of large springy thing sticking out of the front bumper

I'm CONSTANTLY looking at toy stores for that perfect scaler body I may be sick...I should see a doctor!

I know shes hot, she is my wife. well the 1/10th version.:-P

I need to get a more recent pic of it up. i took the tires off the landy wheels, which are a little taller and wider than the trail docs so I think they will be better. I have one chassis shot so here it is.

No that front springy thing is normal for these. they break easy. now I threw on some borrowed flat irons today. looks a lil big.

and the current set up Im running with new front springy things in the right spot.

I dont know, But i really like the Flatirons on there myself, just looks like its a little tight of a fit. Do they rub on the body when flexed?

Oh yes they rub, but no more than the tires on it. I would have to widen the stance a little if I ran them. If I run them it will only be at scaler comps. I dont know I like the look with the smaller tires on it. also if I want to run the flatirons I will have to upgrade to a hi torque motor. the stock one struggles with those tires. Then I would worry about starting to break more stuff. Maybe I will cut down some 1.9 flatirons to 97mm.

well time for an update. I put 3/8in longer lower links in the rear. it amazes me how even 3/8ths of an inch added to the wheelbase makes a noticable difference. Not enough but noticeable. it didnt change the looks so I was pleased. I also took the knife to the tires I got with my plastic landy wheels. I think they turned out nice. i opened up the tread a little by cutting off half a block on each side of the middle treads every other block.I noticed alot better traction in loose dirt, and rocks. The tires clean out much better too. I think they look kinda like the pitbull rockers. too bad they arent taller.
the new cut.

the old tires. dont mind the body, its fixed

new cut closeup.

Any more detail on the body? Who makes it? The packaging it comes in? Things like that. I'm out in the middle of nowhere and it's hard to get stuff unless I can find it through the web. Thanks! PS want to sell your old body??
