How much of your pinion is actually contacting your spur gear? It looks like only about half. I had the same problem but I flipped my pinion around so the set screw is at the end of the shaft on the motor. It barely grabs enough to hold on, but it's workin' so far.

I haven't had any problems with spur being chewed up. I'm also not easy on my truck either.

I would say I have 80% contact.

I got tired of blowing up stock driveshafts.

So I ordered 2 packs of Traxxas marine yokes

1 pack of Traxxas pede shafts

I cut down the shafts down I use tubing cutter has it leaves clean cuts making getting shafts back together easier.

Cut down. Then I popped on the yokes and driveshafts together.( you will need 2 more metal balls.)

The driveshafts smiple slip on the trans outputs. Pics of them installed.

The MIP's are pretty nice, they give you the strength and are a smaller diameter for more clearance in the GC2 chasiss. Nice build ! Remember that chasiss is a collectors item now that the GC3 is out.

Hey there Eric, like your rig... Im running the og GC2 chassis now and love it.. I think I met you at a comp around the DFW area last year.. Im still running a Trinity Cobalt 15 turn (could be a 12t).. I think it was you that recommended me trying it (could of been someone else)... Anyways i like that moto.. plenty wheel speed/torque.. but it does get a bit hot (only after like a 20 min hard session).. I have been curious about this same brushless setup you are using now.,, so u have plenty of wheel speed huh?? does it run cool? do you have any vids of it in action.. just curious and trying to figure out if i should pull the trigger on the brushless setup.... Thanks - Rob

It does run cool. Plenty of wheelspeed. It was install in the truck, program it and start running! It been worth the money. I can try get some video of it.

This is a cool idea, was going to go with MIP's but will probably go this route instead.

First: I did not come up with mod.

It easy to do and rids more the 2mm and solves the front wheel wobble.
I ordered Alum C's, Next I drilled and tap them to 3mm

Next I used 4 M3x6 button heads. You don't have to do anything to knuckle.

I used a thin washer between C and flanged sleeve Just one side. This helps to get rid any play.

All done. No wobble, Is alot more stronger. It easy do and takes 15mins.

I did the same to mine Eric its a big help for sure. I also did my old knuckles so that I could make my own 3mm tie rod and drag link.

I Had a chance to run the rovers from BOWTIE. After running them, I almost didn't didn't give them back! When I got home I order a set.

Nova hook me up with a set of single stage foams.
Fronts full width
Rears I cut 1/2'' one side off them

You can tell the difference between stock foam and Nova foam.
Stock foam on left and Nova foam on the right

Here You see tall the tire is and how much clearance I gained

Some posers

Another update, This a cool one for the GC2 guys...

I wanted to do away most the 2mm hardware. This what started with.

I first finished up my C's and grinded them.

Nexted I start on the swap. I unbolted the servo and then plate from the axle and same for the rear axle.

Next I bolted up the servo mounts onto the new GC3 servo plate

Next I drilled out the upper link holes to M3 with a drill and tap, I then put together rod ends and tap them for 3mm. Swapped the new rod ends on and bolted them to plate.

Then I drilled and the holes that mount the skid, side plates, lower links out to M3

Then bolted in the new skid with the M3 screws

Here what it looks done.

Pile of hardware I unbolted.

damn eric,that thing is NARROW!
looks good. I have been converting a slingshot to m3 hardware.
but where the lower links mount to the axles, there just isnt much meat on the axles there.
also you used stock or m3 for mounting the link plates ontop of the pumpkins?

also if you dont mind.

your goose ever give you any problems with holding on steep.

sometimes mine holds great, then other times its like it just lets loose a little. usually on down hills at the worst time. like when i'm aproaching a gate or something.

The Gatekeeper Chassis has always been narrow.
I used stock hardware to mount the plates to axles

I never really pay attention to holding on steep incline.
I know going downhill I have to give it little throttle.
