| Radios?
Since I'm new to the hobby, all I have right now is a JR XS3 for a radio and just mess around with my RC18's. In the VERY NEAR future I will be building my MRC and want to also upgrade the radio. I know the radio in the rtr kit isn't bad but want to upgrade to a radio 2.4 that will hold at least 10 models or so...so I don't have multiple radios this way I can just use that 1. What are your recommendations for this as most of you are seasoned vets on the subject? Was looking at the Spektrum DX3R or a Futaba 3 PK...used of course, can't afford a new one. JIGS |

What are the other RCs that you will be controlling with this new radio? Will any of them require a 3 position switch? If so, then the DX3R would be a good choice....if not, then you can probably pick up a used DX3 for ~$100.

Right now I've got 3 RC18's, 1 Wheely King (collecting dust), 1 RC10T3 (collecting dust), and plan on getting the following: 1 Losi Mini Cralwer, 1 Traxxas brushless Rustler, 1 RC10 B44 Brushless, 1 RC8T brushless...I can dream can't I, LOL!!! I'm not planning on everything right away but I do have a list that is similar to this. Just want a radio that is capable of running everything, a 2.4 and possibly upgradable. And above all else, affordable. What about this one: http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/751548.asp For the price I could get 2 of them and be able to run 20 different vehicles!! Appreciated, JIGS Last edited by Jigsisme; 08-25-2009 at 03:07 PM. |

Futaba 3-pm is hard to beat for the $. I know alot of people who run that and have good luck with it. Depends on how many features you need I guess. It is a basic but quality digital 2.4! I run Spektrums but would have no issues with the Futaba. I wish you could melt down all of the cheap radio's you get with RTR's. I have almost a dozen laying around..you would think that could add up to something other then worthless! |

Personally I run a futaba 3pm, now futaba is rumored to haveing a crawler type 3pm coming out soon for around the same price as the 3pm. Now that being said futaba radios will not link to the stock receiver so that may be something to look at in your decision process. |

I am running 8 different RCs with the DX3R. My 2 crawlers with dig, an E-Maxx and a soon to be finished Berg, make the 3R my best RC investment so far.

Have to agree the dx3r is a bit pricey but its well worth it. And horizon has some of the best customer service, I have fried two of the sr3100 rx's somehow and they have replaced them both no questions asked! Go with the dx3r!!! |
