Exclamation Tired of waiting for a DIG for the MRC??? HERE it is!!!!!

I have been watching the "Dig for MRC??" tread for a long time and I am sick of waiting for a DIG for my MRC.

So I switched on my milling machine, an after some hours:

All sliding parts are made out of steel or stainless steel. Only the driveshafts are made aout of high quality alloy (6083 or so)!

Servo:

Locking mechanism. Simple and reliable:

The spring forces the bolt into the locking position. The servo moves it back! (1mm high flexible stainless steel cable!!!)

It was a lot of work, but in the end it was all worth.

I know, it is not comp legal, but I dont want to take part in competitions with that:

get more information of this car:
Project: Steyr Pinzgauer on LOSI MRC

I have carefully tested this DIG and after some test drives there is no wear!

nice greetings from Austria!

That's not a bad question(I'm looking out for you FuzzyZ)...I had the same issue using firefox, it just looks like no pic at all, I switched to IE and the pics just had x's. I was able to see them on my phone, so I can only guess that my firewall at work is blocking the pics. Kinda strange though, this is the only time that has happened.

Good looking job on the dig...

But the questions I want answered are.

1st. How much does it get hung up with all that heavy, mishaped hardwar sticking out on the middle of the driveshaft.

2nd. Could you re-design it so that the unit flushmounted to the transmision case. That would stop any hangups you might have.

3rd. How much weight does it add... Seems like it would be more than a few ounces on the rear end.

4th. So, basically you are disengaging the rear shaft, and then pushing a pin out to catch one of the beadlock bolts...? Does that mean its got free wheel too, or is it just a locked out or not deal...?

5th. I see what your getting at with locking it via that pin. Have you considered a slide lock on the lower half of the shaft instead..?

Exclamation

@ 1): I have no Problem with that! As you can see on Picture 5 & 7, the diameter is small enough. I have tested it for almost 2h driving time and havn`t any problems with getting hung up.

@ 2): Redesign? I `m currently waitung for an Mamba Micro Max ESC. I Will use a cheap 1000kv Outrunner of about 2215 to 2817 size. I have no experience with brushless motors in Crawlers. Because of its size, the bl motor will NOT fit the LOSI standard Transfercase.
Additionally I will need some trials to find the correct gear ratio.
So I will build a temporary motor mount for testing.
After that, I am going to build an NEW transfercase for the new brushless motor. WITH integrated DIG .

@ 3): Total vehicle weight: 1950g
One Wheel (No additional weight inside!) = 175g
Four Wheels = 4*175g = 700g!!!!!!!!!!!
DIG = 50g
DIG-Servo = ???
Lead Weight, mounted on the chassis = 170g

@ 4): The servo has 3 positions: 4 wheel drive, free rear axle, locked rear axle!

@ 5): This is the best idea! It was my first idea too, but when I started drawing a plan, I reallized that there is not enugh space. The drive shaft has a length compensation of 5mm. Maybee it is possible, but I wanted to make sure that it works reliable. So I selected this way.
