Default A DOGs Build Thread of DOOM!!

So I got a Losi mini this summer and I was great stock for a while.

Then I built a sweet rock course in the back alley. Then I moved the links farther down on the chassis for a lower stance and moving the battery to the front axle. It did do a lot better.

Until I broke the front differential. Stupid plastic crap! So I ordered up a new set of metal diff lock gears for the front axle, back axle and trans. I also went to the local hobby store and found some sweet 2.2 wheels and tires that will fit with no modifications. I had to get the nice metal axle shafts too ya know. So once I get it all put together the drivetrain will be bullet proof.

But when I was at the hobby store he also had a special order long arm kit . It has super strong and longer arms with a new chassis and a few other doo dads. I am gonna pick it up tomorrow. Pics to come tomorrow!!!

nice find on the wheels, remember the brand/type?
I have never heard anyone say outright, but is bigger tires and better traction what dooms the lockers?

Tires are 2.2 Pro Line Dirt Works. And I snapped a locker by having stock tires but I got it wedged in a little hole and just a little too much gas will snap them when they're under stress. You can go bigger tires and more power but get the metal lockers for the axles and the trans.

So do you still have the stock servo? If so I wonder how well that will do with the larger tires?

2 Feet in Montana huh. Well to be fair it's been too cold to snow here. All week it has been high's in the single digits and lows to about -10. Ah I love living in the Arctic.

Heres pics of the new tires on the rear.
Side view

They are like twice the contact patch of the stock tires. Should do really good in the snow.

Got it all assembled. Wheelbase is soo perfect now. Right in between a 1.9 and 2.2 crawler. Flex is WAYYYY better than stock. Tires fit soo perfectly. They had like a cm clearance to the front link on both sides.

Underside of the chassis. You can see the thicker longer arms, longer chassis and drive shaft extensions.

Wheelbase is now right at 10in!!!!!! Someone tell me what the wheelbase for a stock losi mini is please. I want to compare. Kitty blurring by.

I stacked all the stock tires up and it can flex on it without lifting a tire. Almost 90 degrees!

Longer chassis and arms makes the biggest difference. So much more flex and its way more stable.

It does really good in the snow. I just cant wait to install the slider motor so I can have real wheel spin. Cause with the stock motor it just doesnt spin them up enough to get momentum. It does crawl through snow really good though.

lots of flex.

Lookin good!!

I don't think anyone got to your question about the wheel base yet. The Stock wheel base is 8.5" and that is the Max limit for comps. you will not be able to run in the 1.9 class if you plan on running any comps. Just thought you would like to know.

Stock wheel base is not 8.5'' it more closer to 8'' if I remeber right. I have stretch it to 8.5 by using revo link ends on both skid and axles.

it might make the turning radius slightly smaller but I still have max turning both ways. The tires just barely rub. A perfect fit!!
