| New to MRC - build help
Bought the MRC about a year ago for my son to mess around with. We are mainly nitro truggy & 1/5 Baja guys, but the rock crawling bug has hit us hard. I cant leave anything stock so with help from the stickies and reading the build threads, I've ordered the following this week: Gatekeeper Mini GC3 (backorder from Tower, any idea when these will be in stock?) HiTech HS-645MG Proline Flatirons. Axial beadlocks. CKRC aluminum diff lockers - front and rear. Servo mount plate. Novak Mongoose BL 18.5T system. HR drag link set. HR bent links. HR 62T spur gear/ 13T pinion. HR universal drive shafts. Wheel weight kit. I'm still looking at shocks (any ideas?) Do I need a new servo horn to mount the 645MG? Let me know if there is anything I'm missing. Thanks, I've learned a lot from you guys in the last couple of weeks. |

Looks like a good list so far. I would recommend the RCBros Shocks. Also consider buying the center locker as well, you'll need it eventually. No you do not HAVE to order a servo horn, but I would. The 645 comes with a bag-o'-goodies including like 4 horns, but they're plastic and I personally don't like the looks of them. Prolly should order some spare rod ends too. Good Luck, keep us posted. |

I don't think the HR bent links will work with the GC3 chassis. And what wheel weight kit did you buy? I don't think there is a wheel weight kit for the Axial wheels, unless you just got stick-on lead wheel weights. Also, what 13t pinion did you get? Novak makes a pinion set that goes with the mongoose that comes with three pinions in a pack. If you are going to run flatirons you should look into the red G-made wheel spacers from TCS.

Don't Quote my on this. But I f your going to run a GC-3. I don't think you need to order a servo mount plate. I think The GC-3 Comes with a custom servo mount because it also works as the upper 4 link mount. On the GC-3 servo mount you can mount a regular 1/18th servo or a 1.10th. I think that is the way it is designed

Well I guess I have to throw in the Losi aluminum mrc shock recomendation not that it makes it easier to decide. I prefer the losi over the rcbros shocks they were made for the truck not buggy as the rcbros are. My rc bros were way wya to stiff even with new springs, my losi are as asmooth as butter and i havnt had any leak problems.

May I ask what your shock oil and spring used were? 35WT oil and the orange springs are amazing smooth and soft. I have the ability to get softer but feel the orange are the softest one would need.
