Default rx-280 question

After doing lots of reading on here I have installed a rx-280 motor with a 12t pinion. the problem i am having is that when i first start to run it, it has no power and dosen't move very fast and if you put it in even the slights bind like trying to crawl something it shuts the speed control down and i get the red flashing light for 10 to 20 seconds then it starts back up. Then after i drive it around for a little the motor seems to then wake up and run like it should, lots of wheel speed and good torque. I have doubled checked the gear mesh and i make sure the battery is fully charged. The only reason i changed the motor is the stock one was getting tired. I am running all stock electronic and battery.

Thanks in advance

I am having the same issue. I replaced the stock motor only after it died with the RX-280. Motor runs great as long as you don't get in a bind. When it stops it is like I lost all power (No steering too). When I pick it up it all comes back. The ESC doesn't feel hot and it is not very old but the motor does get warm. I would like to figure it out before my Mongoose system get here. I just like to know why it happens.

I stuck an rx-280 in my daughter's rig. It has lots of wheel speed and torque, no problems so far. The only thing I've noticed is it's a bit noisy and seems to drain the battery faster than expected. It's on a Castle ESC, so that may be the difference, sounds like the stock ESC can't handle the load.

General requirement is, small mah needs big "C", big mah can get away with small "C".

Our MRC packs are 2S 325mah(?) 65C packs from CBP.

Installed mine yesterday with an 11t pinion and I got the same results as the op after charging my battery pack overnight. Mine doesn't even feel that torquey at all either, of course I've got flatirons on it though. At this point the stock mrc motor was way better.

Looks like I'm looking for another motor again.

I've got flatirons on mine too. Running a 10/62 set-up with a losi Insane motor. Tons of torque, tons of wheelspeed...
