Lightbulb Chassis Comparison Thread

Ok, so post what chassis and what you like about it or what limitations you have found with it.

GC2, GC3, Mini SS, Mixer, Skullz v1/v2, stock
and any other chassis kits out there.

Post your thoughts and experiences with any chassis you have run.

GC-3

Pros(My view):Much better then stock
more tuning options,
tougher,
cheaper then most chassis
just better.

Cons(My view): Little hard to put together in some sections,
body mounts are hard to put on if you're using stock shocks.
If you are using stock shocks, you are going to have some binding with the upper links (mount links on the inside of the chassis, but this limits your articulation on one side)
Not much room for electronics :l

More cons then pros, but the price is very good and so is the performance. Cheapest good preforming chassis Ive found

Skullz V2 - Great starter/Homebrewers chassis. Has several location holes for mounting a homebrew 4 link or repositioning the factory stuff.

GC3 - LOVE IT. does great on link geometry out of the box. My only tiny whine is the chassis is so narrow the electronics dont fit down in it to well. Other than that its a great chassis.

HBZ Black Web is a awsome slap on chassis works with the stock skid with a few more mounting options. tis a very good chassis that will keep up or over run others in a comp with the right set up.

If you are looking for a comp winning chassis......Gatekeeper GC2 or GC3 is the way to go.The link geometry is perfect and they will outclimb and sidehill most anything I've seen.
There are some great handling Fubar mini skeeters in our club too,but when I drive right() the mini Gatekeeper beats them.

Had the Mini SS chassis. It came with a plexi-glass baseplate. That cracked on my 4th comp and the chassis became worthless. I didn't like the 4 Link geometry on this chassis and it was very limited.

I've got the Darksoul Chino chassis now and absolutely love it. the whole chassis is one piece and you don't have to worry about the baseplate. So far it has been rock solid and has plenty of options for Geometry. Without drooping it, I have gotten it pretty low and it sidehills awesome.

X2. Only problem is that the skid is a little long.

I'm a little biased towards the ATi OCD chassis since I helped design it but, the GC3 has almost the exact same geometry (OCD has shorter upper links). It's disputable which is better, really it depends on your driving style and terrain. (OCD better for climbing/sidehilling, GC3 better for rock gardens/technical terrain)

Any chassis with parallel upper links/triangulated lowers is going to perform head and shoulders above the stock chassis.

I'm not familiar with the Chino, but it looks like triangulated uppers/parallel lowers which will also work very well. It also has alot more shock positions than the OCD/GC3.

I don't see it? It does not work any better than a Mixer or GC2/GC3 and it is twice the price. I would say if you don't want to mess with the chassis and just want to slap it together and go the GC3 is the way to go. If you like to mess with it, make a bunch of links and play around with link location to make it just the way you like it the Mixer is great.

IMO, the Chaotic Crawlers Mini NiNo chassis has been the best performing chassis I have ever seen.

they dominate the rocks in utah, I have seen countless people try other chassis kits and everyone has switched to the NiNo chassis!

it's very tuneable, uses either the stock skid or the included delrin skid, has great vertical climbing ability, awesome sidehill ability, it's strong as hell, and looks sick as hell too!
it's also very narrow which is one of the key selling points of this chassis!
it works with stock 3 link or the included 4 link plates allow you to go even further with tuning.
it also works with stock or upgraded losi shocks.

plus it's only $40 shipped.

really any chassis you choose will be better than stock though!
